Nürburgring Introduces Exclusive Track Sessions and Training for Improved Motorcycle Safety
The Nürburgring has revamped its services for motorcyclists, introducing significant changes to improve safety and enjoyment on the track. A pivotal update is the separation of motorcycle and car sessions, ensuring that both vehicles no longer share the track simultaneously.
From this season, motorcyclists will enjoy professional training and exclusive track times. The Nürburgring's tourist rides remain a significant draw, allowing anyone with a vehicle to test their skills on the legendary Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife during designated hours.
"The safety of our participants is our utmost priority," states Nürburgring Managing Director Ingo Böder. He highlights a key observation that led to the recent changes: "Our thorough analysis of mixed vehicle sessions revealed that the distinct dynamics of cars and motorcycles could cause misunderstandings and pose risks, especially for motorcyclists due to their lack of a crumple zone. Hence, we have decided to strictly segregate the two, restructuring our offerings to maximise safety for motorcyclists."
The new structure introduces different options for the Nordschleife and Grand Prix circuits. Motorcyclists can now tackle the 21-kilometre Nordschleife exclusively under the guidance of trained professionals during special training sessions and courses. In 2025, four full-day sessions are available, including the Motorrad Action Team on July 30-31 and ADAC Doc-Scholl Driver Training on August 13-14, catering to both novices and seasoned enthusiasts.
Additionally, motorcyclists will continue participating in tourist rides on the Grand Prix circuit, benefiting from exclusive slots tailored to the daily influx of riders. Thanks to consistent driving lines across the 5.1-kilometre track, these sessions promise a comfortable and safe riding experience. The circuit is scheduled to open 38 times in 2025, with nine special training dates hosted by Speer Racing and Ducati 4U from May to September.
For those holding season tickets or credits for tourist rides, these can still be used on the Grand Prix circuit. However, credits for the Nordschleife will now be valid only for car sessions or can be refunded easily. The Nürburgring info°centre is on hand to assist with any returns.
