Adrian Newey Joins Aston Martin Aramco F1® Team as Managing Technical Partner

Adrian Newey has pledged his long-term future to the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team. The esteemed British designer will commence his tenure at the team’s Silverstone headquarters on 1 March 2025, taking up the role of Managing Technical Partner.

Adrian Newey's appointment marks a significant assertion of Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One ambitions. With an unparalleled track record and spearheaded F1 teams to 25 World titles, Adrian is the sport’s premier technical mind.

Embracing a fresh challenge in Formula One, Adrian identifies Aston Martin Aramco as the perfect venture to deploy his expertise and innovation. A private tour significantly influenced his decision in June to the team’s new AMR Technology Campus, a clear testament to the team's boundless aspirations.

Adrian faces numerous challenges in his new role: a complete overhaul of the technical regulations set for 2026, the incorporation of Honda works power units, advanced fuels by Aramco, and the sport's latest wind tunnel.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team, expressed his excitement: “This is monumental news. Adrian is unrivalled in his field – at the peak of his career – and I am immensely proud to have him on board at the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team. It's the most significant development since Aston Martin’s return to the sport and further proves our commitment to constructing a championship-contending Formula One team. As soon as Adrian was available, we seized the opportunity. Our initial discussions confirmed our mutual ambition for a once-in-a-lifetime partnership. Adrian, a true competitor, quickly recognised our potential upon visiting our impressive AMR Technology Campus, meeting our skilled team, and viewing our advanced wind tunnel. We are serious contenders – and so is he. Adrian shares our vision and drive and will be instrumental in advancing Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One narrative.”

Adrian Newey remarked, “I am excited to be part of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team. I am deeply inspired by the passion and dedication Lawrence invests in all his ventures. His determination to forge a top-tier team is evident in the state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus and wind tunnel at Silverstone, which are cutting-edge and foster an excellent working environment. With formidable partners like Honda and Aramco, we have all the essential infrastructure to propel Aston Martin to world championship glory. I am eager to contribute to this success.”
