Alpine A290 Launches: Pioneering the Electric Sports Car Revolution with Enhanced Performance and Cutting-Edge Design
Alpine sparks a new era with the debut of the A290, heralding the advent of the electric sports car revolution. Embodying the brand's core values of performance, agility, and lightweight design, coupled with quintessential French craftsmanship, the A290 opens the gateway to Alpine's all-electric Dream Garage. The range will soon expand to include a GT C-Crossover and a new version of the A110 alongside the A290.
The A290 seamlessly integrates the beloved driving dynamics of the A110 with the advancements of urban electric sports cars. Crafted true to Alpine's DNA, the A290 offers a compact, agile form factor with high performance that's easy to handle and comfortable for daily driving. Its advanced Ampere electric platform and comprehensive energy services, such as Mobilize Power and bi-directional V2G charging, position it within a fully integrated electric ecosystem designed to enhance the user experience.
Featuring a contemporary design, top-tier technical specifications, extensive connectivity, and numerous customisation options, the Alpine A290 truly embodies the spirit of the brand for the electric age. It targets a diverse customer base, appealing to performance seekers and style lovers. Manufactured in Douai, within ElectriCity, and with its electric motor produced locally at the Megafactory in Cléon, the A290 champions French production, with battery manufacturing set to commence in France by summer 2025.

The A290's design is critically influenced by its dimensions. Thanks to the AmpR Small platform and a 60mm track widening, it maintains a muscular stance in a compact package less than 4 metres in length. This vehicle promises the poise of a robust hot hatch, ready to perform with agility.
Distinctive design elements like the unique lighting signature, incorporating X-shaped motifs reminiscent of rally cars, enhance the A290's bold aesthetic. With a range of design features such as broad wings, body-coloured side skirts, and an optional French flag on the C-pillar, the A290 is visually striking.
Every aspect of the A290's design has been optimised for aerodynamic efficiency, which is crucial for maximising electric range. The design incorporates air-friendly features like a streamlined bumper intake and a ducktail spoiler to maintain a sporty edge without compromising airflow.
The A290 rides on 19-inch alloy wheels in two exclusive designs, echoing the legacy of Alpine's A310 with the Iconic wheel design, while the Snowflake design nods to the brand's origins. Brembo 4-piston front brake callipers ensure the car's powerful performance is safely checked.
The A290 is available in four striking colours, including the deep Alpine Vision Blue, and launches with a limited Premiere Edition of 1,955 units in four unique versions.
Antony Villain, Alpine Design Director, explains, "The A290 was conceived as a compact reinterpretation of the A110, capturing the essence of small sports cars or hot hatches. It combines Alpine's heritage with fresh, electric-era innovations."
The A290_β concept car was previewed in 2023 alongside the BWT Alpine F1 Team drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. It showcased the future design direction for the A290, featuring dual front motors, FFSA track certification, and unique passenger configurations, setting the stage for Alpine's electric transformation.
