Boost Your Race with Radical's Custom Colour Options: Stand Out with the Ruby SR3 XXR

Most purpose-built race cars come exclusively in white. They're wrapped, raced, crashed, repaired, and raced again. Annually, more than half of the 150+ Radical race cars that depart Cambridgeshire, UK, are also ordered in white. However, some racers opt to break the mould, and for them, Radical offers seven different bodywork colours, plus an eighth bespoke option that has captivated two-time Gulf Radical Cup Champion, Alex Bukhanstov.

For the upcoming 2024/25 season, Bukhanstov chose a distinctive 'Ruby' colour for his new Radical SR3 XXR as he aims to defend his title for the third consecutive year. Currently, his car is the only SR3 XXR in this shade, though the factory team can produce more for future customers, available through Radical’s 30+ global dealers.

Reigning Gulf Radical Cup champion Alex Bukhanstov placed his Ruby SR3 XXR order through Radical UAE, managed by GulfSport, a cornerstone of the Radical Motorsport dealer network. GulfSport, led by the father-son team of Barry and Martin Hope, operates from the FIA-sanctioned Dubai Autodrome and has been a pivotal part of the Gulf’s motorsport scene since its inception in 2004. In 2005, GulfSport launched the Gulf Radical Cup, now a flagship Radical Cup championship globally, with the 2024 Radical World Finals set to be hosted by Radical UAE at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi this November.

The task of creating this unique Ruby colour for the fibre-reinforced composite bodywork panels was assigned to the experienced team at Radical's Cambridgeshire factory. Initial small samples were crafted and sent to the customer in Dubai for approval, showcasing how the colour would appear under the Dubai sun. Once approved, the in-house body shop team began production, while the main assembly hall next door brought the spaceframe chassis, 1500cc RPE engine, and race car internals to life.

The team mixed specially-formulated pigments into the gelcoat layer to produce a coloured, glossy surface that maintains the SR3 XXR's finish for years, even under the extreme conditions of racing.
