Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 and ID. 2all Launched: Revolutionising Urban Electric Mobility

Since the iconic Beetle, Volkswagen has been facilitating affordable mobility for millions with its compact and appealing cars. The German automaker now unveils the ID. EVERY1 show car at its global premiere, introducing an entry-level all-electric model. Set for a 2027 launch, this vehicle starts at approximately 20,000 euros. The ID. 2all will debut in the 25,000 euro category in 2026. Both models are integral to the new front-wheel-drive Electric Urban Car Family, developed under Volkswagen Group’s Core brand group. They utilise Volkswagen’s innovative modular electric drive platform: the front-wheel-drive MEB.

Volkswagen’s commitment to attractive, sustainable mobility in Europe forms a cornerstone of its future strategy. Beginning in 2026, the all-electric Urban Car Family will enhance Volkswagen’s diverse high-volume segment portfolio, which includes efficient combustion engines, advanced hybrids, and visionary electric vehicles. Thomas Schäfer states, "The ID. EVERY1 completes our extensive range. We will soon provide every customer with the ideal vehicle and drive system, including affordable entry-level electric options." He adds, "We aim to lead globally in technology in the high-volume sector by 2030, embodying a brand for all, as expected from Volkswagen."

Kai Grünitz, Volkswagen’s Board Member for Development, remarks, "Our future models, like the ID. EVERY1, embody Customer Defined Vehicles, placing customer desires and preferences at the forefront of our vehicle development more than ever." The ID. EVERY1 will pioneer a robust new software architecture across the Group, allowing the vehicle to be updated with new functions throughout its lifecycle, adapting to user needs even post-purchase.

The up! – the direct predecessor of the ID. EVERY1, built until 2023, continues to impress with its distinctive, straightforward design. The new Volkswagen design language integrates characteristic elements into the EVERY1, as Volkswagen’s Head of Design, Andreas Mindt explained: "We aimed to craft something bold yet accessible. The ID. EVERY1 presents a confident but approachable look, enriched with dynamic front lights and a 'smiling' rear that not only define its style but also forge its identity and relatability."

Belonging to the Electric Urban Car Family and based on the MEB platform, the ID. EVERY1 features electric front-wheel drive for revolutionary space utilisation and optimal efficiency. The concept vehicle can reach up to 130 km/h and is powered by a newly developed 70 kW (95 PS) electric motor. It offers a minimum range of 250 kilometres. Positioned between the former up!, the ID. 2all, and the current Polo, the ID. EVERY1 provides seating for four and a boot capacity of 305 litres.

With the “Future Volkswagen” agreement concluded in December 2024, Volkswagen AG and its employees have embraced a vision that merges economic stability, employment, and technological leadership in sustainable mobility. This agreement lays the groundwork for pivotal future projects.

Volkswagen’s strategic three-phase plan includes:

  • Catch up: To enhance competitiveness and expand the model range strategically, the new Electric Urban Car Family will be previewed in autumn 2025.

  • Attack: Launch nine new models by 2027, including the economical ID.2all and the ID. EVERY1.

  • Lead: Aim to lead in technology, safety, innovation, and sales in the high-volume automotive sector by 2030.

The vehicle showcased is a concept model and is not currently for sale.
