Discover the AC Ace Classic Electric: A New Era of British Sports Cars

AC Cars, the UK's longest-standing car manufacturer, will unveil its groundbreaking AC Ace Classic Electric at the SEMA 2024 show alongside its electrified performance technologies partner, TREMEC Electric GT.

This fresh iteration of the AC Ace Classic and AC Ace Bristol Classic was developed at AC Cars’ state-of-the-art facility on the UK’s south coast and completed in the US. It offers a modern twist on classic motoring through advanced electric powertrain technology.

TREMEC, renowned for its legacy in Performance Technologies and Advanced Electrification Capabilities, was the natural choice to partner on this new roadster, which draws on a rich history dating back to 1901.

Echoing the story of the original AC Ace, which evolved into the famed AC Cobra, each vehicle features a handcrafted chassis, coachwork, and interior before being equipped with an electrified performance powertrain.

The AC Ace incorporates TREMEC Electric GT’s eGT413 Modular EV platform, engineered to deliver a dynamic driving experience in this iconic sports car. It boasts 300 eHorse Power (225 kW), a 72 kWh battery, and a lightweight under 1,134 kg, ensuring outstanding performance. Its DC Fast Charging capability and over 200 miles of range per charge make it a highly functional and reliable roadster.

Traditional craftsmanship pairs with advanced carbon-fibre bodywork, while the electrified powertrain offers remarkable speed. Each vehicle also comes with a bespoke, hand-finished interior.

David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with TREMEC, highlighting the significant role of their expertise in developing a vehicle that both companies are immensely proud of.

Antonio Herrera, Managing Director of TREMEC, commented on the collaboration, noting the significance of working with a historic brand like AC Cars and bringing electrifying performance to such an iconic design.

Reservations and orders for the new AC Ace electric are now open, with the bespoke sports car starting at $275,000 before taxes. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2025 for a limited production run.

The AC Ace Classic and AC Ace Bristol Classic electric represent a new chapter in the legacy of one of Britain’s most revered sports cars. These models utilise state-of-the-art construction techniques to offer unmatched ride and handling, blending original chassis designs and carbon-fibre bodywork with modern powertrains for an unrivalled driving experience.

Over its 123-year history, the AC Ace has become synonymous with racing success and automotive respect. This car, which later transformed into the legendary AC Cobra, dominated the SCCA National Championships in the US and achieved consecutive victories at the Sebring 12-Hour race.

Available in two versions, the AC Ace Classic electric reflects the open grille design of later models before it evolved into the AC Cobra, while the AC Ace Bristol Classic electric features the original ‘smiling face’ front end from its 1953 debut. Both models sport elegant curves, contrasting with the flat-sided original.

AC Cars continues to employ traditional techniques in crafting these cars at its UK facility, ensuring precision and strength through carbon-fibre construction, similar to its flagship AC Cobra GT Roadster.

Once completed, cars destined for US customers are shipped to TREMEC’s North American Manufacturing Facilities for final assembly. Priced at $275,000 before taxes, the new AC Ace Classic electric and AC Ace Bristol Classic electric are road-registered vehicles in both left- and right-hand drive, catering to US and UK markets. Each is marked with an official chassis number, celebrating its heritage.
