Experience Bentley’s Bespoke “Black Rose” Batur: A Masterclass in Rose Gold Luxury

Bentley has revealed a genuinely exceptional showcase of every Batur customer's co-creation commissioning journey, culminating in a unique vehicle named ‘The Black Rose’. This masterpiece is themed around the mesmerising allure of rose gold.

‘The Black Rose’ is one of 18 Baturs crafted by Mulliner’s Bespoke Studio, arising from an extensive collaborative process between the client and Mulliner’s design team. It boasts a bespoke ‘Black Rose’ metallic paintwork—commissioned exclusively for this patron—contrasted by a gloss Beluga upper body. Satin Rose Gold accents define the front grille, the ‘endless bonnet line’ bright ware, mirror caps, the lower body kit, and 22-inch tri-tone wheels, which encase carbon ceramic brakes with black calipers.

Bentley punctuates deep Beluga hides, fascias, and fabrics with gleaming rose gold inside the cabin. In an industry first, Bentley’s gold Additive Manufacturing (AM) 3D-printing technique introduces up to 210 grams of hallmarked 18-karat rose gold at key driver touchpoints, including the Drive Mode Selector, the iconic Organ Stop vent controls, and a rose gold insert marker on the steering wheel. These details epitomise the limitless bespoke possibilities Mulliner offers.

Surrounding these rose gold highlights is a richly dark interior palette—Beluga leather, charcoal grey tweed fabric, and veneers finished in Black Rose metallic paint that mirrors the exterior.

In partnership with renowned goldsmiths Cooksongold, Bentley has pioneered the fusion of modern manufacturing and traditional craftsmanship. By utilising raw materials from 100 percent recycled jewellery, Bentley underscores its commitment to sustainable luxury and achieving complete carbon neutrality by 2035.

Every component produced for the Batur undergoes hallmarking at Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, confirming the authenticity of the solid rose gold. Parts manufactured in 2022 also bear the Jubilee hallmark, honouring the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee year.

In 2022, Bentley invested £3 million to double its AM capacity at the Crewe factory, transforming three-dimensional CAD models into tangible parts. Hallmarked 18-karat rose gold is one of many groundbreaking finishes available to Batur customers through Bentley’s bespoke Mulliner division. Options range from aerospace-inspired titanium to eco-friendly, leather-like textiles derived from coffee roasting by-products and an extensive selection of leathers, woods, and other materials. The only boundary is the customer’s imagination.

Since the Roaring Twenties, Mulliner has crafted bespoke bodies for some of the world’s most iconic Bentleys, including the legendary 1952 R-Type Continental. Today, Mulliner serves as Bentley’s in-house bespoke division, delivering everything from personal commissions to limited-run coachbuilt motor cars. This exclusive, face-to-face service invites customers to co-design each feature and finish, ensuring a genuinely personalised expression of automotive luxury.

Limited to 18 examples, the Batur began a design revolution at Bentley. Its success led to the unveiling of the Batur Convertible in May 2024. The Batur Convertible is the third Mulliner Coachbuilt model, following the Bacalar barchetta and the Batur coupé. With just 16 units available, the Batur Convertible is the most potent W12-powered drop-top Grand Tourer in Bentley’s illustrious history.
