Experience Zenvo Automotive’s 1,850bhp Mjølner: The World’s Most Powerful V12 Hybrid Road Car Engine

Zenvo Automotive is about to unveil ‘Mjølner’, the most powerful V12 engine ever fitted to a production road car. This quad-turbo marvel produces up to 1,250bhp, rising to an astonishing 1,850bhp when combined with an electric hybrid system. The first meticulously hand-built unit is complete, marking a significant milestone in the fast-paced Aurora development programme.

In partnership with MAHLE Powertrain, Zenvo’s all-new 6.6-litre V12 represents the beating heart of Aurora. MAHLE Powertrain’s Northampton, UK facilities will construct the bespoke V12 engine and the hybrid system. With this powerful new creation in place, the Aurora programme has reached a pivotal moment, and a rigorous testing phase will commence before the prototypes begin evaluation.

“A key part of the Aurora programme involves delivering an emotional connection for drivers and passengers, designed to stimulate the senses,” says Jens Sverdrup, Chairman at Zenvo Automotive. “Aurora will prioritise sound and visceral drama, and the engine is crucial to achieving this, which we will turn up to 11. At Zenvo, we are a team of passionate car enthusiasts, and it is not every day that a V12 engine is born. We feel immense pride and excitement in revealing Mjølner. Achieving the world’s most powerful road car engine was not our initial aim, but it became a reality through pushing the boundaries of what we know is possible. This milestone sets the stage for the next phase, where the engine will truly come to life and deliver on every level, reflecting the progress we continue to make.”

Zenvo has based Mjølner’s design on established road car expertise, pushing performance to new heights. Every element was carefully considered from the earliest design stage to ensure driver engagement, comfort, and global emissions compliance. Despite its exceptional 9,800rpm redline, this engine remains purpose-built for road use, avoiding the compromises often found in motorsport-derived powertrains. Mjølner features the MAHLE Jet Ignition system, perfected over a decade by MAHLE Powertrain, which enables ‘Lambda1’ operation—vital for upcoming emissions standards. This V12 application marks the first step in Zenvo Automotive’s new modular architecture. Future product lines within the Zenvo family will continue to evolve this concept in different configurations.

“Watching this engine develop from the ground up has been a true labour of love,” comments John Hollingworth, Sales & Marketing Director at MAHLE Powertrain. “We have faced significant engineering challenges along the way, testing our teams at every turn, and they have exceeded all expectations. Seeing the hardware assembled for the next phase of engine testing is a real triumph. Our engineers have created a road engine unlike anything else on Earth, showcasing their expertise at the absolute pinnacle of performance. Everyone eagerly awaits the Mjølner engine’s first roar into life, and we believe it will stand as a defining moment in automotive history.”
