F1 Champion Jenson Button Reveals Bespoke Lotus Evija at 'The Quail' Event
On the illustrious stage of 'The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering,' F1 World Champion Jenson Button is poised to unveil his pièce de résistance – the bespoke Lotus Evija, an opulent masterpiece set to etch an indelible mark on the annals of automotive history.
This automotive marvel, a veritable symphony of Button's discerning tastes, emerged from an intimate pas de deux with the brilliant artisans of the Lotus Design team. Meticulously curated, its exterior design pays a heartfelt homage to the chariot that bore Button to his crowning glory in the 2009 F1 World Championship, the iconic Brawn GP race car. A regal Arctic White serves as the canvas, adorned with the crescendo of Verve Yellow and Carbon Black accents. The iconic number 22, harkening back to Jenson's historic season, graces the deployable door mirror housing, a symbol emblazoned on the interior door lining.
Each minuscule detail is a brushstroke of passion, as witnessed in the vertical, laser-etched aluminium strip adorning the seats. A poetic chronicle of Button's triumphant 15 F1 race victories, spanning 2006 to 2012, an ode to the six vital triumphs that led to his ascension in the 2009 Championship.
Button, standing amidst The Quail's splendour, effused admiration for his creation: "The car looks sensational and in a colour scheme which means so much to me. The Lotus team has delivered the design proposal we dreamed up together – they’ve created a real head-turner."
Simon Lane, the maestro orchestrating Lotus's Advanced Performance, was equally satisfied: "I’m delighted to be with Jenson in California as he reveals his Lotus Evija to the world for the first time. It’s a fantastic moment for the whole team, which has worked hard to bring Jenson’s vision to life."
Inside the sanctum of Jenson's Evija, a monochrome symphony unfolds as ethereal white and obsidian black dance upon meticulously perforated leather seats. An ebony Alcantara headliner and a commanding ebony steering wheel command the centre stage, elevating the ambience to heights of sophistication hitherto uncharted. Yet, the daring strokes of Lime Yellow contrast stitching elicit gasps of admiration, splashing bespoke charm across every interior corner. This vibrant hue pirouettes gracefully on elements such as the pedals, the centre console rotary, the start/stop button, the steering wheel-mounted mode switch, and the air vent surrounds.
The Evija's visual luxury extends to its performance components, where gloss black alloy wheels, adorned with magnesium matte black accents, cradle Verve Yellow brake callipers—anodised silver wheel nuts, a homage to motorsport aesthetics, sparkle at the centre, inviting reverence.
The true crescendo, however, resides under the sinuous bodywork. An announcement of unbridled power, 1,500 kW / 2,039 PS, which shatters even the initial 2,000 PS whispers from the Evija's debut. In this revelation, the Evija assumes its rightful place as the most potent series production road car, an apex predator stalking the tarmac.
As 'The Quail' curtains rise, attendees will witness the birth of a new automotive legend, a machine that draws inspiration from Lotus' storied racing heritage. Additionally, the event heralds the U.S. debut of the Lotus Eletre Hyper-SUV.
