Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series Debuts at Le Mans: Enhancing Performance with Innovative Features and Exclusive Upgrades

The Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series makes a stunning debut at this weekend's 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcasing high performance, premium functionality, and unparalleled sophistication. This model raises the bar regarding substance and style with apparent ease.

Featuring a new Performance pack, the Mustang GTD enhances its agility. It boasts a driver-focused interior and exposed carbon fibre elements, emphasising its advanced construction. Dressed in striking Chroma Flame paint, the Mustang GTD boldly announces its European launch.

The highlight of the Mustang GTD is its Performance package, which is crucial for achieving a lap time under seven minutes on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. This package includes dive planes, an enlarged splitter at the front, underbody flaps, and a rear wing with a drag reduction system. These active aerodynamic components minimise drag while maintaining grip during cornering. Additionally, the Performance pack features a Lightweight package that reduces sound insulation and adds impressive 20-inch magnesium wheels and a distinctive front fascia, available across all Mustang GTD models.

Mustang GTD Chief Engineer Greg Goodall explains, "Sports cars typically excel in one area, but the Mustang GTD is designed to excel in all aspects necessary for a quick Nürburgring lap: cornering, grip, braking, and acceleration."

The Mustang GTD enhances driver confidence and focus with its Recaro seats and a new steering wheel, making its debut at Le Mans. The steering wheel includes thick padding, premium Dinamica inserts, and carbon fibre components, with additional buttons for suspension and exhaust adjustments.

Newly added buttons on the console provide easy access to Track Apps and a front-axle lift feature, improving navigation over common obstacles. The supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine, boasting over 800 horsepower, is controlled by a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, complemented by 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters for an enhanced grip and driving experience.

Design Manager Anthony Colard states, "The Mustang GTD not only advances Mustang’s performance but also enriches the cabin with a new level of focus and premium quality."

The Mustang GTD’s new Chroma Flame paint is a showstopper at Le Mans. This exclusive colour is one of six available for the Mustang GTD. It adds a touch of elegance to the Carbon Series trim, which features an unpainted bonnet, roof, rear Tech Deck, and wheels finished in Magnetite.

The Mustang GTD also advances in technology. The Unreal Engine powers the SYNC 4 infotainment system, which now features Mustang GTD-specific graphics. A new Performance gauge cluster, designed exclusively for peak Mustang performance, prioritises crucial driving information.

The European launch of the Mustang GTD coincides with opening the application window for European customers, starting at 13:00 CET on June 13, available at TheMustangGTD.com. This event marks the debut of the most daring Mustang yet.
