Hispano Suiza Unleashes Carmen Sagrera at Goodwood Festival with Spectacular Track Debut
Hispano Suiza is poised for a spectacular return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will unveil the Carmen Sagrera, the pinnacle of the Carmen series. The brand celebrates its 120th anniversary with a prominent presence at this prestigious automotive event, attended by nearly 200,000 enthusiasts over four days. This setting offers the ideal platform to introduce their latest innovation.
This year, Hispano Suiza will set up its own stand at the festival, attracting thousands of attendees. For the first time in the UK, they will unveil the Carmen Sagrera, presenting it to both the media and dignitaries, including The Duke of Richmond, the festival's founder. British model, entrepreneur, and racing driver Jodie Kidd will lead the press conference as the master of ceremonies on Thursday, July 11, at 11:00 am.
Additionally, Hispano Suiza will thrill fans by participating in the Goodwood Hillclimb. Luis Pérez-Sala will pilot the Carmen Sagrera, boasting 1,114 hp of electric power, in its debut climb. The Carmen Boulogne will also take to the hill on Thursday, while the Sagrera takes centre stage at the stand.
An exclusive pre-sale of Hispano Suiza's new Capsule Collection will also take place at the stand. This collection, inspired by the spirit of the Gentleman Driver, includes polo shirts, t-shirts, raincoats, and caps, reflecting the brand's racing heritage. Following the event, these items will be available for purchase online.
Hispano Suiza will also feature prominently in the Supercar Paddock, displaying top-performing models. Luis Pérez-Sala, the brand's Driver and Ambassador, will host a 'Meet & Greet' on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, providing an immersive experience into the world of Hispano Suiza.
The new model was officially revealed on June 13, 2024, during a celebration of the company's 120th anniversary. The event brought together the Hispano Suiza team, media, ambassadors, customers, and friends.
The Sagrera is now equipped with a second-generation battery system boasting a capacity of 103 kWh. These advanced batteries feature 360 cells in 15 modules, weighing only 612 kg, and operate at over 750VDC. The upgraded battery enhances the driving range by about 100 km, reaching a total of 480 km as per the WLTP cycle.
The Carmen Sagrera also sports a redesigned cooling system that is lighter, simpler, and more sustainable. The front-end design of the Sagrera boldly reflects its sporty character, with a pointed grille and redesigned vents that integrate seamlessly with the vehicle's profile. New side sills and a revamped rear panel with a large, stork-wing-inspired spoiler enhance both the car's aesthetics and aerodynamics.
This redesigned spoiler optimises aerodynamics, integrating seamlessly with carbon fibre side panels and a copper-accented diffuser, adding elegance and performance. The aerodynamic improvements significantly boost downforce and grip, enhancing cornering and lateral acceleration.
Inside, the sporty feel continues with a redesigned centre console and infotainment system, featuring upholstery in alcantara with black and red leather, highlighting the car's exclusivity and quality.
The Sagrera is powered by four 205 kW motors, delivering a total of 1,114 hp and 1,160 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. The transmission features a virtual self-locking differential that ensures optimal performance on the track.
The vehicle's suspension system has been meticulously designed for racing-level performance, with adjustable shock absorbers, coil springs, and an anti-roll bar. Lightweight suspension components crafted from military-grade materials and aerospace bolts guarantee durability and performance.
The advanced braking system of the Sagrera includes single-block calipers and 400mm carboceramic discs, designed to withstand the rigorous demands of track conditions. Enhanced cooling and a stiffer pedal board improve the braking system's performance, allowing it to operate at higher efficiencies and temperatures.
