Hyundai and Škoda Collaborate to Drive Global Hydrogen Mobility Initiative

Hyundai Motor Company has partnered with Škoda Group, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop a hydrogen mobility ecosystem. This historic agreement was signed during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague, attended by Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business at Hyundai, alongside Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda Group.

The MOU outlines a collaborative effort to advance hydrogen fuel cell systems and technologies, enhance energy-efficient solutions for mobility projects, and explore the hydrogen ecosystem and value chain beyond traditional mobility scopes.

Ken Ramírez of Hyundai stated, "Our alliance with Škoda Group accelerates the adoption of hydrogen, fostering the growth of hydrogen technology and carbon neutrality worldwide, including the Czech Republic. We are poised to lead in the burgeoning hydrogen sector, creating synergies between our fuel cell technology and Škoda’s mobility products."

Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda, emphasised the critical role of hydrogen in transforming mobility for a sustainable future. "Our collaboration allows us to transcend national borders and tap into broader markets. Together, we will introduce innovative, eco-friendly mobility solutions globally, enhancing cleaner energy solutions where they are most needed," he added.

The partnership recognises hydrogen as a foundational element for a sustainable society, beginning with mobility. Under the MOU, Hyundai will share its leading fuel cell technology, boosting eco-friendly mobility in Škoda's operational territories, including the Czech Republic.

Furthermore, Hyundai and Škoda will conduct feasibility studies on fuel cell system applications beyond mobility. Leveraging its extensive experience in hydrogen applications across mobility and energy sectors, Hyundai is set to play a crucial role in supporting the energy transition.

Hyundai Motor Group remains dedicated to establishing a hydrogen-fuelled society through its hydrogen value chain business brand, HTWO. This initiative integrates the Group’s businesses and affiliates across the hydrogen value chain, from production to application.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech, situated in Nošovice and operational since 2008, is one of Europe's most advanced car manufacturing facilities with a capacity to produce 350,000 vehicles annually. As the most significant foreign investment in the Czech Republic, it highlights Hyundai’s commitment to regional and global sustainable development.
