Meet the Eccentrica V12: A Contemporary Take on the Classic Lamborghini Diablo

Eccentrica, based in San Marino, has recently unveiled the fully drivable Eccentrica V12, a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic Lamborghini Diablo, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. This limited-production car merges Diablo's timeless design with the latest technology, debuting a robust new 60° naturally aspirated V12 engine for the first time.

The Eccentrica V12 sports a 5.7-litre V12 engine, originally from early '90s Diablos, now delivering an impressive 550 HP and 600 Nm of torque. A newly crafted 6-speed transmission enhances gear ratios alongside a modernised power steering system, absent in the initial Diablo series from 1991-1994. Upgraded camshafts, an electronic throttle body, and a refined flywheel boost the Eccentrica's performance, adding an extra 55 horsepower, offering a smoother power delivery compared to the original engine, and increasing the top speed by ten kph to an estimated 335 kph (208 mph).

Emanuel Colombini, the founder and president of Eccentrica, shared his excitement about the project, stating, "The Eccentrica V12 is a passion project inspired by my lifelong admiration for the Lamborghini Diablo. While I cherish the original design, I aimed to enhance the driving experience. The result is a car that pushes past previous technological and performance limits. It's a fully modern hypercar with the essence of a '90s classic.”

The vehicle also features strengthened chassis components using composite materials and a double-wishbone suspension, now upgraded with active dampers by TracTive. This sophisticated setup offers three settings and includes a front axle lift system, ensuring a smooth and responsive driving experience. Capristo's utterly new exhaust system adds to the thrill, while an innovative BREMBO braking system with matte-painted callipers delivers superior stopping power. Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres provide enhanced grip and safety, and new custom-made 19-inch rims, forged from an aluminium alloy, improve the handling.

Inside, the Eccentrica V12 maintains the Diablo's retro-futuristic style but incorporates modern innovations into the steering wheel, dashboard instruments, a new digital infotainment system, and a rear camera integrated into the rearview mirror, offering an immersive and cutting-edge driving experience. The car also has a bespoke Marantz audio system designed with high-quality materials to transform every drive into an unforgettable auditory journey.

Only 19 models will be produced, each customisable to the buyer's specifications. Eccentrica ensures exclusivity and uniqueness, with the first deliveries expected in the summer of 2025. The unveiling at The Quail follows the recent appointment of industry luminary Maurizio Reggiani as an advisor, who will offer strategic and technical guidance throughout the production of the Eccentrica V12.
