Jaguar C-X75
CALLUM has extensively re-engineered the Jaguar C-X75 from Spectre's thrilling car chase, transforming it into a road-legal marvel. Catch its grand unveiling on April 21, 2024, at Bicester Heritage's upcoming Scramble event.
Originally crafted by the Jaguar Design team under Ian Callum's leadership in 2010, the Jaguar C-X75 stole the spotlight in 007's action-packed sequences filmed in the Vatican City. Among the surviving stunt cars, Car Seven is the sole unit licensed for UK road use after significant modifications by CALLUM's engineers.
Commissioned by a private customer and initially built by Williams Advanced Engineering for the 2015 film, the C-X75 stunt cars were engineered to endure rigorous chase scenes. With a robust tubular spaceframe chassis, rally-inspired suspension, and Jaguar's potent 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, CALLUM's team in Warwick was tasked to transform this iconic vehicle for road use while preserving its legendary history.
CALLUM's engineers implemented hundreds of modifications to secure the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) certification necessary for UK roadworthiness. These included new E-marked glass, updated switchgear, a refined exhaust system, catalytic converters, and precise engine calibration tuning. Drawing from their expertise from previous projects like Aston Martin's DB4 GT Continuation Series, CALLUM's team devised innovative solutions, such as integrating side repeaters into new wing mirrors to replace the foam models used in the stunt car.
Beyond meeting regulatory standards, CALLUM's artisans focused on enhancing the bodywork and fittings. Superfluous quick-release latches, essential for filming access, were eliminated. Panel gaps were aligned, while the carbon fibre surface was upgraded, refined and repainted to perfection.
Recognised for its precise body control, sharp steering, and agility, the original C-X75 stunt car impressed audiences. Under the guidance of CALLUM's engineering director, Adam Donfrancesco, in-house engineers ensured that the vehicle's fluid and engaging driving dynamics remained intact. They achieved this through meticulous dampers and ride height adjustments, enhancing its performance while preserving its original charm.
