Škoda Unveils Vision Gran Turismo: An Electrifying Entry into PlayStation's Gran Turismo 7

Škoda Auto is launching the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo, a groundbreaking all-electric concept car, in the PlayStation game Gran Turismo 7. This move enhances Škoda's footprint in the virtual racing realm. Inspired by the 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC Spider, the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo boasts an all-wheel drive system powered by four electric motors, generating a staggering 800 kW of power.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, states, "Škoda Motorsport's history spans over 120 years with numerous triumphs. Our next venture? Entering the e-racing arena by unveiling a breathtaking virtual concept car in Gran Turismo, the top racing game globally. The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo connects our rich legacy with our future in electric mobility and introduces our new Modern Solid design philosophy. We aim to enrich our customers' adventures and draw new enthusiasts to our brand with this sleek vehicle."

For the first time, Škoda is entering the acclaimed racing simulation Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and 5 with its Škoda Vision Gran Turismo. This exclusive all-electric racer, developed for the game's Vision category, showcases Škoda's dedication to innovation and exploration of new audiences and mediums. The entry also responds to gamer demands to integrate the Czech brand into this beloved racing game.

The virtual Škoda Vision Gran Turismo draws inspiration from the 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC Spider, designed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Under Oliver Stefani's leadership, the Škoda Design team has created a remarkable open-top single-seater, merging historical design elements with innovative features like a split rear wing.

The design also incorporates elements of Škoda's new Modern Solid design language, evident in the T-shaped headlights and the matte Explorer Green finish. The car is equipped with four electric motors producing 800 kW and 1,020 Nm of torque, along with all-wheel drive and active aerodynamics, ensuring superior performance on any track.

The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo features a modern, low-slung body with sharp lines and defined edges. Its active aerodynamics adapt to enhance handling and efficiency. Gamers can customise their car with two paint options: a homage to the Škoda 130 RS's 1977 Monte Carlo Rally class victory or a matte Explorer Green, highlighting Škoda's innovative design language.

In the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo, drivers find themselves in a minimalist digital cockpit reminiscent of open-top formula racing cars. The adjustable sports bucket seat, designed to provide optimal support and equipped with a six-point harness in Red Orange, enhances the racing experience. The futuristic carbon steering wheel, developed with input from seasoned Gran Turismo gamers, complements a highly customisable control setup. A crystal stone embedded above the steering wheel acts as a power meter, while the display doubles as a rear-view mirror and shows vital driving data.

The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo, weighing just 1,300 kilograms, delivers exceptional driving dynamics thanks to its 87 kWh lithium-ion battery and four synchronised motors. Each axle motor provides 200 kW and 25,000 rpm, totalling an impressive 800 kW system output. The car's independent-arms pushrod-type suspension, similar to those used in Formula E, enhances stability at high speeds, reduces body roll, and lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity. The distinctive sound profile, crafted by the Škoda Development and Design team, adds to the immersive driving experience.
