Lotus Robotics Partners with CaoCao Mobility to Accelerate Global Autonomous Driving Solutions
Lotus Robotics, Lotus's self-driving technology division, today announced a strategic partnership with CaoCao Mobility, the ride-hailing service backed by Geely Holding, to accelerate the global rollout of its autonomous driving solutions.
Together, they have introduced China’s first truly comprehensive autonomous driving system, powered by Lotus Robotics. This system includes a fully customised vehicle, fully driverless operations, and fully automated management.
Both companies have completed a pilot programme in Suzhou and Hangzhou, covering 13,545 km in designated test areas without human intervention. This milestone demonstrates the real-world safety and reliability of Lotus Robotics’ software and services.
Building on this success, Lotus Robotics and CaoCao Mobility will continue operations in both cities, refining the vehicle-road-cloud integration model. This approach unites vehicle intelligence with infrastructure to tackle ongoing challenges, such as unexpected pedestrian crossings.
This announcement follows Lotus Robotics’ recent partnership with Aramco Digital, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, which explores implementing Robotaxis in the Middle East. Today’s news marks another significant step in Lotus Robotics’ global expansion, as it provides a complete suite of autonomous software and services for businesses aiming to adopt self-driving technology safely and efficiently.
Lotus Robotics Offerings
ROBO Soul: A full self-driving software stack compatible with any vehicle in any environment. Offering end-to-end solutions up to level 4 autonomy, ROBO Soul allows vehicles to perform driving tasks under specific conditions, with the option for human override. Some components of this technology are already used in Lotus’ next-generation electric vehicles, including the hyper-SUV Eletre and the hyper-GT Emeya.*
ROBO Galaxy: A suite of cloud-based tools underpinning ROBO Soul. It helps businesses manage and analyse data to increase the efficiency and accessibility of their autonomous fleets. By collecting data from multiple sources—sensors, road information, and algorithms—ROBO Soul continually learns and enhances its self-driving capabilities during testing and development.
ROBO Matrix: Using real-time monitoring, ROBO Matrix offers advanced remote safety features, such as guidance, control, and parallel driving solutions, by analysing live data. Its AI capabilities enable constant learning from the environment, improving the safety and accuracy of self-driving.
Latest Advancements in Self-Driving Technology
Urban road navigation without map reliance, also known as ‘Navigate on Autopilot’ (NOA), delivering seamless transitions between motorways and urban roads, innovative lane changes, intersection U-turns, and detours.
High navigation precision, featuring variable lane driving, effortless motorway-to-city-road transitions, intelligent lane selection, intersection U-turns, and advanced obstacle avoidance.
This technology is already in China, with a global rollout planned for Q4 2025. Actual levels of autonomy in each region will vary based on local regulations.
Lotus Robotics also collaborates with leading automotive brands, such as Lynk & Co and Farizon Auto, helping them harness the advantages of self-driving technology. To scale its global reach, Lotus Robotics leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store and analyse data from across its product range, complying with all relevant regulations in its operational markets.
Meanwhile, CaoCao Mobility provides ride-hailing services across 57 Chinese cities, catering to over 35,000 businesses and seven million professionals, making it a trusted solution for corporate travel.
