Maserati Pioneers Future of Racing with GEN4 Commitment in Formula E
Maserati is thrilled to confirm its ongoing participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, introducing the GEN4 generation of cars starting from Season 13 (2026/2027).
Based in Modena, the automaker has underscored its dedication to high-end electric racing by competing with the GEN4 single-seaters. This move allows for greater developmental freedom for manufacturers.
Choosing Formula E aligns perfectly with Maserati's focus on electric innovation. The championship is an ideal platform for advancing and testing new technologies. Here, Maserati accelerates its commitment to sustainable mobility, directly enhancing its 100% electric Folgore range with advancements from the racetrack.
Maserati first joined the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Season 9 (2023) with its Tipo Folgore single-seater. Since then, the championship has witnessed significant enhancements in vehicle performance, notably with the "GEN3 EVO" in Season 11, which sees power outputs up to 350 kW and features like four-wheel drive during peak race moments, achieving a recovery of up to 600 kW.
The upcoming GEN4 promises even superior performance. It will maintain a four-wheel drive throughout races and boost power to deliver more thrilling and environmentally friendly racing.
Maserati’s rich racing heritage continues to influence its visionary approach to the future of Formula E, aiming for unmatched performance through 2030.
Santo Ficili, CEO of Maserati, stated, “We are extremely proud to extend our engagement with such a prestigious and innovative platform as Formula E. The link between the racetrack and road vehicles is inseparable, and the evolution of our single-seaters demonstrates the vast potential of electric mobility. We look forward to transferring key developments from our Formula E experiences into our fully electric vehicle range, which includes the Grecale Folgore SUV, the iconic GranTurismo Folgore, and the GranCabrio Folgore convertible.”
Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of STELLANTIS Motorsport, added, “We are pleased to support Maserati in the upcoming GEN4 era of Formula E. For over a decade, we have been crafting high-efficiency powertrains for DS and Maserati, and we will continue to innovate these road-relevant technologies in this forward-looking championship.
