Maserati Powers 2025 GT World Challenge Europe with Official Safety and Leading Cars
Maserati has entered a new agreement with SRO Motorsports Group to supply the official Safety Car and Leading Car for the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. The Italian manufacturer will field its GT2 Stradale as the Safety Car, marking the road-going evolution of Maserati’s acclaimed GT2 race car. Powered by a V6 Nettuno engine, the GT2 Stradale accelerates from 0–100 km/h in a rapid 2.8 seconds, achieving a top speed of 324 km/h.
Finished in elegant Nero Pastello, the GT2 Stradale will ensure security and style for the upcoming GT World Challenge Europe season. Maserati will also run its MC20 as the Leading Car, featuring a head-turning Bianco Pastello paint scheme. Equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and advanced aerodynamics, the MC20 demonstrates Maserati’s unwavering commitment to high performance.
This new partnership further solidifies Maserati’s longstanding ties with the SRO Motorsports Group. The marque already boasts a sterling motorsport heritage, forged by legendary models such as the MC12, which excelled in the GT1 era. More recently, Maserati returned to the world stage with its GT2 machine, contesting the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli and promptly proving its race-winning capabilities.
The 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS launches this weekend (12/13 April) at Circuit Paul Ricard. It will host a six-hour Endurance Cup race from 18:00 CEST on Saturday. Alongside providing the Safety Car and Leading Car, Maserati will participate in the GT2 Europe field, entering both the Pro-Am and Am classes.
Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse, says: “We are thrilled to serve as the official Safety Car and Leading Car provider throughout the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. From track road and back again, this journey epitomises Maserati’s ethos. Evolving our GT2 racer into a road-going model was a natural step, showcasing our brand’s outstanding performance. We anticipate a fruitful partnership with SRO and are proud to deliver a car with cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and distinctive driving characteristics. We aim
to reignite Maserati’s passion and competitive DNA on the track.”
Stéphane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group Founder and CEO, adds: “I am delighted to welcome Maserati as the new Safety Car and Leading Car supplier for GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. This agreement builds upon a longstanding relationship between SRO and Maserati. From the iconic MC12 to today’s GT2 model, Maserati is synonymous with engineering excellence, and the GT2 Stradale is certain to excel in its new role. I look forward to a successful partnership.”
