Maserati Unleashes First Customer MCXtrema at Monterey Car Week
In a historic moment at Laguna Seca during the prestigious Monterey Car Week, Maserati has handed over the first customer, MCXtrema, the brand’s most potent track-only supercar. This milestone marks the MCXtrema's debut on North American soil as part of a carefully curated experience during the brand’s Car Week activities.
Maserati’s MCXtrema, a 730-horsepower marvel, returns to Monterey, making its mark on the track as the final highlight of the Monterey Car Week tour. Designed to push boundaries, the MCXtrema embodies Maserati's DNA, delivering an unrivalled performance that defines every creation from this iconic Italian marque. With only 62 units worldwide, this limited-edition masterpiece combines exquisite design with unmatched racing dynamics.
At Laguna Seca, the event also marked the North American debut of the V6 3.0L twin-turbo Nettuno race engine. The engine roared to life on the track, culminating in delivering the first MCXtrema in late summer 2024. Given its track-only nature, it was fitting that this historic delivery occurred at one of the world’s most legendary circuits during Monterey Car Week.
Following its display at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the MCXtrema's delivery was highlighted by Maserati's Chief Test Driver, Andrea Bertolini, a four-time GT world champion in the legendary Maserati MC12. Bertolini took the MCXtrema on its first laps around Laguna Seca, showcasing its capabilities with its new owner in the passenger seat before officially handing over the keys. This ceremonial handover celebrated the car's remarkable journey from concept to reality, with Bertolini's key role in its development through rigorous simulation testing.

When we set out to develop one of Maserati's most powerful track-only cars, we envisioned 62 unique individuals as owners and custodians of a rich legacy."
The Maserati MCXtrema represents the zenith of automotive innovation, fusing Italian craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. As one of Maserati's most potent performance cars, this track-only marvel was developed through extensive virtual analysis to ensure optimal performance. The development included approximately 200 hours in the Maserati dynamic simulator, supplemented by 1,000 hours of detailed virtual analysis across various simulations.
Built upon four years of MC20 development and subsequent engine advancements, the Maserati MCXtrema excels in track performance. Designed by Maserati Centro Stile and 100% made in Italy, it combines beauty with functionality to achieve superior aerodynamics and handling.
To further enhance the ownership experience, Maserati has introduced the MCXperience, an exclusive program offering bespoke services to MCXtrema customers. This includes an exclusive club that immerses owners in the Maserati racing world alongside professional drivers and technicians from Maserati Corse Services.
The MCXperience also provides a concierge service for accessing on-track experiences and the MCXtrema Racing Kit, designed by Maserati Centro Stile in collaboration with Sparco. This racing kit ensures drivers feel like true racers when piloting the MCXtrema, enhancing the overall driving experience.
