One-of-a-Kind Bugatti Baby II: A Timeless Collaboration by Hedley Studios and Bugatti

Hedley Studios (formerly The Little Car Company) collaborated closely with Bugatti and its in-house Manager of Sur Mesure and Individualisation, Jascha Straub, to create a bespoke, one-of-a-kind Bugatti Baby II. This striking yet elegant three-quarter-scale electric masterpiece turns back the sands of time, honouring the French marque’s incomparable 115-year heritage. Modelled on the iconic Type 35—Ettore Bugatti’s visionary creation and the most successful racing car of all time, which marked its 100th anniversary last year—this Bugatti Baby II is a dynamic tribute etched into automotive history.

Thanks to his extensive experience with Bugatti, Straub has become a trusted advisor to discerning owners worldwide, utilising his vast expertise and creative vision to bring their personalised designs to life. He offers unparalleled insights throughout the customisation journey with Bugatti, enabling customers to commission hypersports cars that reflect their tastes—an inspired collaboration enriched by Straub’s passion for the Bugatti marque.

For this unique Bugatti Baby II, Straub and Bugatti selected a mesmerising duo-tone of ‘Nocturne’ black and ‘Giallo Midas’ yellow—a colour scheme personally favoured by Ettore Bugatti and famously seen on legendary models such as the Type 57 Grand Raid Usine. Reflecting an unwavering eye for intimate details, this special Baby Bugatti II captivates with its fusion of history and beauty, infused throughout with Straub’s deep appreciation of the brand’s heritage.

Its striking exterior is further enhanced by an interior upholstered black leather sourced from ‘Bridge of Weir’—an elegant nod to Bugatti’s rich heritage and a homage to Ettore Bugatti’s creative mind. The combination of black and yellow also harks back to Bugatti’s birthplace in Molsheim, the historical setting where the legend began.

Bugatti and Straub’s design seamlessly weaves in touching tributes to Ettore Bugatti’s lesser-known passion for horses. His devotion to horsepower went beyond machines to include living thoroughbreds—an inspiration drawn from the purity and beauty of the ‘Pur Sang’ equines that graced the grounds at Molsheim.

This one-off Bugatti Baby II incorporates subtle references that elevate its status as a collector’s piece—driveable art enriched by rarely shared intricacies of Bugatti’s heritage. Straub’s incredible sketches pay homage not only to Ettore Bugatti himself but also to the legendary Type 35, reflecting its prowess and countless track victories.

Straub meticulously refined his concept on paper and perfected his art on separate body panels before committing to the final masterwork. His hand-drawn depictions—including horses, victorious racing cars, the iconic Château Saint Jean, and evocative images of Ettore and Jean Bugatti—adorn the car’s panels with pinpoint precision. Finished with a delicate layer of clear coat, these tributes are preserved in exquisite clarity for all time, celebrating Bugatti’s unrivalled legacy and Straub’s artistic genius.
