Renault Group and Geely Expand Zero-Emission Vehicle Production Partnership in Brazil

Renault Group and Geely Holding Group have announced an expanded framework agreement to enhance their strategic partnership. The agreement will focus on producing and selling zero- and low-emission vehicles through Renault do Brasil. Geely Holding will become a minority shareholder in Renault do Brasil, granting it access to localised production, sales, and service resources. However, the venture is contingent upon finalising definitive agreements and obtaining approval from the relevant regulatory bodies.

As part of this agreement, Renault Group’s Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, will host the production of these new vehicles. This initiative will benefit Geely Holding and Renault, supplementing Renault's vehicle line-up.

On the sales front, Renault do Brasil will distribute Geely Holding's portfolio of zero- and low-emission vehicles in Brazil. This arrangement will leverage Renault’s established market strengths and commercial expertise, accelerating Geely Holding's business expansion in Brazil, the primary automotive market in South America.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, stated, “Renault Group and Geely have forged a strong alliance, having already launched a joint venture in Korea and created a global leader in powertrain technology. This new cooperation in Brazil will further solidify our industrial presence in Paraná and enhance Renault's market position.”

Eric Li, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, commented, “Our ongoing collaboration with Renault reflects our commitment to sustainable industry transformation alongside global partners. From South Korea to Brazil, our partnership continues to advance, driving mutual benefits through shared synergies and enhanced efficiencies, thereby delivering greater value worldwide.”

Daniel Li, CEO of Geely Holding Group, added, “In this transformative era for the automotive industry, it is wise to advance with allies. We aim to achieve quantitative and qualitative growth by embracing long-term development and maintaining a commitment to openness and collaboration.”

This new partnership enables Renault Group and Geely Holding Group to boost their global brand expansion and become key players in the Brazilian market, which accounts for 44% of automotive sales in Latin America.
