Revamped Jaguar C-X75: CALLUM's Masterful Supercar Transformation

CALLUM has completed its second bespoke commission of the Jaguar C-X75, meticulously refining each aspect to craft the most sophisticated version of this iconic supercar. This bespoke model continues CALLUM’s previous work on one of the four stunt cars from the James Bond film Spectre. This iteration not only addresses the practicalities of making the C-X75 road-ready but also integrates enhanced performance, comfort, and convenience into the very essence of the vehicle. The result is a thrilling, engaging, and highly personalised version of this much-admired supercar, fulfilling a client's vision for a C-X75 that lives up to the original concept's promise.

In close collaboration with the owner, CALLUM has ensured that every detailed and complex request was seamlessly incorporated into the final build. Drawing from its earlier experience with transforming a 007 stunt car for road use, this new commission of Car 001 includes far more than the standard modifications needed for Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) certification. Car 001 now boasts a re-engineered drivetrain, active aerodynamics, and a modern, exquisite interior that dramatically elevates the driving experience.

Ian Callum, design director and co-founder of CALLUM, reflects on the project: "The C-X75 was 'the one that got away'—a car teeming with unrealised potential. We have merged the customer's desires with sophisticated engineering solutions to achieve the satisfying conclusion that the C-X75 deserved."

The C-X75's supercharged V8 engine now pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. CALLUM's in-house software and advanced body and comfort electronics allow the car to function as a practical road car or, when desired, shift into a dynamic sporting mode. At the driver's command, gear shifts sharpen, throttle response quickens, and the expertly tuned exhaust system enhances the driving sensation with its exhilarating sound.

CALLUM has developed an advanced active aerodynamics package to enhance its performance further. This system increases downforce and stability at speeds over 60km/h, improving handling and control, particularly during high-speed braking. The hydraulic front lift suspension offers practical benefits for city driving. Through rigorous testing, CALLUM has perfected a road-focused setup that ensures a neutral, predictable balance in turns and steady high-speed stability. The original 20” front and 21” rear wheels are now equipped with Michelin’s acclaimed Pilot Sport 4S tyres, suitable for road and occasional track use.

Over 1,000 hours of craftsmanship have been invested in perfecting the car’s bodywork, which features precise panel alignment and a lustrous deep paint finish in Willow Green. This colour, inspired by the subtle hues of willow leaves, harmoniously blends earthy tones with a hint of yellow. Custom details like machined-from-solid aluminium window surrounds, a bespoke filler cap, visual carbon fibre accents on the quarter light intakes and diffuser, and a polished metal grille underscore the car's striking appearance. Additional refined touches include an etched C-X75 emblem on the exhaust tailpipe and enhanced light diffusion from the rear lights.

Inside, the transformation is even more dramatic. The functional cockpit of the stunt car has been replaced with a driver-centric, premium environment featuring a sophisticated mix of dark green and cream tones. A bold 40-degree angled "waterline" dynamically splits the cabin, reflecting the dual nature of the car’s design. The interior surfaces showcase a variety of leather textures, complemented by a prominent metal "Arrowhead Necklace" feature that encircles the cockpit. Three tactile rotary controls, each angled towards the driver and integrating touchscreens, underscore the theme of clean lines. Additional features like a wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay, and a bespoke sound system ensure an intuitive and connected driving experience.

The cockpit’s minimalist design is crowned by an acrylic cowl covering the digital instrument cluster, with all other controls, including the start button, housed in a roof-mounted console, echoing aircraft design to retain the cabin's pure lines. “The interior is clean and beautiful, simple yet not simplistic,” notes Aleck Jones, head of design at CALLUM. The customer-chosen seats, upholstered in supple Bridge of Weir leather, are complemented by three-point seat belts, enhancing comfort and convenience. The custom-machined steering wheel is tailored to the customer’s specifications. Additional features like a digital rear-view mirror, an integrated electronic park brake with the transmission, and an immobiliser with a 'blipper' key further exemplify the lengths CALLUM has gone to in transforming the stunt car.

Adam Donfrancesco, CALLUM’s engineering director, comments on the project: “Engineering a raw stunt car into a refined modern supercar posed significant challenges, but finding the right solutions was exhilarating, and the results are truly remarkable.”

Furthermore, CALLUM’s engineers have embraced advanced additive manufacturing techniques in partnership with Stratasys. These innovations have created complex forms and more elegant design solutions, as seen in many interior elements like the sill trim that cleverly incorporates cup holders. This demonstrates CALLUM’s adeptness at blending functionality with form.

This refined C-X75 is the latest in a series of bespoke, one-of-one projects that CALLUM is delivering from its Warwick, UK, headquarters. “By reengineering this unique supercar, along with projects like the electrification and validation of a lightweight sportscar and the limited production of our own CALLUM Vanquish 25, we are demonstrating our capability to bring visionary automotive concepts to on-road reality,” concludes David Fairbairn, managing director of CALLUM.
