The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Formula One Management (FOM) have confirmed that the Cadillac Formula 1 Team has met all criteria to join the current roster of 10 teams from the following year.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem heralded this as a transformative moment for the championship. "Expanding to an 11th team in 2026 signifies a landmark. GM/Cadillac introduces vibrant energy, in line with the forthcoming FIA 2026 regulations, ushering in a thrilling new chapter for Formula 1," he stated.

He remarked, "The Cadillac Formula 1 Team's involvement will motivate aspiring competitors and enthuse fans. Their entry fortifies our mission to extend the limits of motorsport at its peak."

The union between TWG Motorsports and GM establishes a distinctively American team noted for its novel approach and commitment to excellence. Combining TWG Group's cutting-edge technology and extensive motorsport experience with GM’s heritage in performance and engineering establishes a robust foundation for the team.

"Over the past year, alongside GM, we have laid a solid foundation for an exceptional entry into Formula 1," said Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports. "Following today’s final approval, we are intensifying our preparations—expanding our facilities, enhancing our technologies, and recruiting elite talent as we look towards 2026."

GM President Mark Reuss was excited: "Confirming the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is a thrilling development. With the continuous support from the FIA and Formula One Management, we are eager to display GM’s engineering acumen on this prestigious global platform."

The announcement also detailed significant leadership roles, with Graeme Lowdon named as Team Principal and Russ O’Blenes as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units LLC, aiming to transform Cadillac into a 'full works' team capable of manufacturing both Formula 1 chassis and power units.

Graeme Lowdon commented on the advancements: "I am extraordinarily proud of the entire Cadillac Formula 1 Team's effort. This announcement is crucial to joining the grid and our continued efforts to establish a full-works team. We are excited to race and provide a new team for fans to support."

"Preparation and development of our power unit are progressing well, and we are actively hiring top-tier engineers," added Russ O’Blenes. "We anticipate running our first V6 engine soon."
