Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes Join Maserati MSG Racing for an Electrifying Season 11 of Formula E

Maserati MSG Racing eagerly awaits the 11th Season of the FIA Formula E World Championship, proudly announcing Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes as their 2024/25 season drivers.

Former Season 8 World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne embarks on his seventh year in the electric series. At the same time, Jake Hughes tackles his third season after proving himself as a standout talent since his debut with McLaren in Season 9.

Together, Vandoorne and Hughes will combine their skills to create one of the most formidable driver line-ups in the current Gen3 era of Formula E. Their blend of proven race-winning ability and fierce determination sets the stage for a pivotal season that introduces the next-generation electric racing car, the Gen3 Evo.

Since entering Formula E in 2018 after two seasons with McLaren in Formula One, Stoffel Vandoorne has established himself as one of the top competitors in the series. He clinched a dominant World Championship title with Mercedes-EQ in the 2021/22 season.

Boasting three victories, 16 podiums, and eight pole positions, Vandoorne is a consistent race winner and a formidable qualifier. His expertise will propel Maserati MSG Racing’s development throughout the upcoming season.

Joining him is Jake Hughes, who, in Season 9, delivered one of the most impressive rookie performances in Formula E history, securing a pole position in just his third race. Since then, Hughes has excelled in Qualifying four times and achieved his first podium finish in Season 10 at the 2024 Shanghai E-Prix.

After serving as the official Reserve Driver for Maserati MSG Racing in Season 7, when the team was known as Venturi Racing, Hughes's return in Season 11 feels like a homecoming.

Vandoorne and Hughes will debut as Maserati MSG Racing drivers during the Pre-Season testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, from 4-7 November 2024. The pair will then compete in São Paulo, Brazil, for the Season 11 opener on December 7, 2024, initiating what promises to be a record-breaking campaign featuring 17 races.

As Season 10 concludes, Maserati MSG Racing extends heartfelt thanks to Maximilian Günther and Jehan Daruvala for their significant contributions and wishes them the best in their future endeavours.

Stoffel Vandoorne, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing, expresses his excitement about joining the team: "I’m thrilled to be part of Maserati MSG Racing next season, a team that embodies the spirit of motorsport excellence. Although I haven’t worked directly with them, my experience in the industry, including with teams sharing technical partnerships, assures me of their skill and determination. I look forward to achieving great success together."

Jake Hughes, Driver of Maserati MSG Racing, shares his enthusiasm: "I’m ecstatic to rejoin Maserati MSG Racing. Having previously worked with the team, I’m familiar with their dynamic and can’t wait to start our preparations for Season 11. This new chapter in my career is brimming with potential, and I am eager to realise it."

José M Aznar, Team Principal & Managing Partner, Maserati MSG Racing, comments on the upcoming season: "The introduction of the Gen3 Evo marks a new era in Formula E. We are excited to have Stoffel and Jake on board for the upcoming season. With their impressive track records, we are confident that our team will be a formidable competitor on the grid in 2025. Jake’s return is exceptional, promising continuity and renewed vigour as we aim for the front of the grid."

Giovanni Tommaso Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse, reflects on the team’s journey: "Welcoming Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes marks a vibrant new chapter for our team. Their entry not only injects fresh energy but also fortifies our competitive edge. As we gear up for another thrilling season, we are proud of our accomplishments and eagerly anticipate making more history on the track with these exceptional drivers."
