Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda Unveil Game-Changing Engines for Electrification and Carbon Neutrality
Subaru Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Mazda Motor Corporation are actively developing new engines designed for electrification and achieving carbon neutrality. These engines, set to revolutionise the automotive industry, will seamlessly integrate with motors, batteries, and other electric drive components. Notably, they feature compact designs that significantly reduce carbon emissions and are compatible with a wide range of carbon-neutral fuels.
Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda, driven by a deep understanding of diverse customer lifestyles, are steadfast in their commitment to decarbonisation. They innovate to reduce carbon emissions and passionately safeguard engine-related supply chains and jobs. Their dedication extends to the racing arena, where they rigorously test powertrain and fuel alternatives, including liquid hydrogen and carbon-neutral fuels, to ensure the highest performance and sustainability standards.
The upcoming Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda engines will boost performance and enhance their integration with electric drive systems. These smaller, more efficient engines will lead to sleeker vehicle designs with improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency while adhering to stringent emissions regulations. This marks a significant step towards achieving carbon neutrality and underscores the crucial role that next-generation engines will play in this endeavour.
Moreover, these engines will pivot away from fossil fuels towards e-fuels, biofuels, and liquid hydrogen, promoting the adoption of various carbon-neutral fuel options.
In announcing these innovations, the CEOs of Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda shared their visions:
"At Subaru, as we refine our electrification technologies, we also enhance our unique horizontally opposed engines for future compatibility with carbon-neutral fuels. Together, we are pushing forward to sustain excellence in Japanese car manufacturing," said Atsushi Osaki, President and CEO of Subaru Corporation.
"To offer our customers diverse, carbon-neutral options, we must evolve our engines to align with future energy environments. Through friendly competition, we will advance our engine technologies," stated Koji Sato, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation.
"Mazda will continue to excite our customers by perfecting internal combustion engines for the electrification era and exploring multiple paths to carbon neutrality. Our ongoing development of rotary engines, compatible with electrification and carbon-neutral fuels, will broadly benefit society," noted Masahiro Moro, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation.
Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda are committed to carbon neutrality as they innovate distinct engines and vehicles. Collaborating with like-minded partners, they aim to lead Japan’s automotive industry into a sustainable future.
