Unveiling a New Era: Frecce Tricolori Embarks with the M-346 Aircraft
The Frecce Tricolori, an internationally acclaimed symbol of the Italian Air Force, heralds a new era equipped with the M-346 aircraft, a masterpiece from Leonardo, meticulously customised for the National Aerobatic Team. This aircraft enhances the team's legendary status and boasts a striking livery designed by Pininfarina, further celebrating Italian excellence. This significant partnership brings together three pillars of the 'Made in Italy' hallmark, showcasing the Italian Tricolore on the global stage.
The team unveiled this new livery during a ceremony celebrating their return from the 2024 North America Tour. The event, attended by dignitaries including Vice President of the Senate Gian Marco Centinaio and Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, took place at the Istrana military airport, the base of the 51st Fighter Wing "Ferruccio Serafini."
The livery, a creation of Pininfarina, encapsulates the elegance and dynamism of the Frecce Tricolori's aerial displays. Its three-dimensional design maintains visibility and impact during complex manoeuvres, symbolising speed and grace. This design partnership, which marries Pininfarina's cutting-edge aesthetics with the Frecce Tricolori's record-breaking precision, pays homage to Italian ingenuity and teamwork.
“It is a great honour to unveil the new Frecce Tricolori livery by Pininfarina,” remarked Silvio Angori, Vice Chairman and CEO of Pininfarina. “This design heralds the Renaissance of the Tricolore, celebrating our national identity and the Frecce Tricolori’s legacy of excellence and passion. We are proud to contribute to their story, designing a livery to enhance their awe-inspiring performances for years to come.”
The collaboration's journey, from concept to the final immersive 3D virtual reality presentation, was documented in a behind-the-scenes video that premiered at the Istrana event and is now available across all communication platforms.
