Unveiling Lanzante's Trailblazing Car Collection at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Over the past few years, Lanzante has consistently dazzled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. 2024 promises to continue this trend as the British automotive experts unveil their most extensive and thrilling collection of projects, premiering each car for the first time. Featuring modifications of McLaren and Porsche models, the Lanzante team will demonstrate their exceptional engineering prowess and craftsmanship. Central to the display—both on their architecturally stunning stand and within the Supercar Paddock—are the first two road-converted Porsche 935s.

Porsche introduced this track-only, second-generation 935 at the Rennsport Reunion in 2019 to pay homage to its dominant racing history. Based on the 911 GT2 RS, this modern version sports a 3.8-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo engine, producing 700bhp. Out of 77 units crafted by Porsche, two owners approached Lanzante to tailor their vehicles for road use. The transformation process, taking just under 18 months from the initial consultation, culminates at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where these two road-legal versions make their public debut.

The road conversion incorporates extensive enhancements to the original track car. These include a custom suspension setup, bespoke wheels engineered from scratch, an advanced braking system with an integrated handbrake, and a tailored electronics system. The team also seamlessly integrated custom headlights into the aerodynamic framework, mimicking the original bonnet air intakes. These modifications are designed to appear as though they are factory-installed. The showcased models also feature iconic motorsport-inspired liveries: one in a contemporary Martini livery and another in the classic red and white Marlboro chevron pattern.

The exhibition also presents five Lanzante-modified McLarens and two Porsches. Among these, the latest McLaren P1 HDK stands out alongside a fully recommissioned McLaren Speedtail that has recently undergone an exhaustive rebuild. This includes a chassis replacement and repairs to all hybrid and wiring systems. This lineup is completed by three Gulf-liveried GTR models: F1 GTR-97, P1 GTR-18, and Senna GTR.

Moreover, the exhibition features the latest iteration of the 1980s Formula 1-engined TAG Turbo model, specifically the ninth of 11 units dedicated to John Watson. A new, lighter, and enhanced TAG Championship version also makes its global debut, honouring four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost in his signature patriotic colours.

The ongoing partnership with Mad Mike Whiddett takes centre stage with the MadMac drift car reveal. Scheduled for 10 am on the opening day, Thursday, July 11, this project celebrates a decade since Mad Mike brought drifting to the Festival of Speed, drawing widespread attention since its announcement a year ago.
