Reviving a Racing Legend: Nino Farina's Spirit Ignites the Monaco Circuit with the Automobili Pininfarina Battista Edizione

Seventy-six years after his historic win, the spirit of F1's first champion, Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina, has revived on Monaco's legendary circuit. The Automobili Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina, a pure-electric hyper GT inspired by Nino Farina and crafted by his nephew's lineage at Pininfarina, made an electrifying return. Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara drove this vehicle, a testament to Farina's legacy, on the iconic Monaco track ahead of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Monaco E-Prix.

Navigating through famed turns like Sainte Dévote, Casino Square, and the Grand Hotel Hairpin, the drivers relived Farina's 1948 experience. The Battista Edizione Nino Farina, a masterpiece limited to just five units, celebrates key moments from Farina's illustrious career, offering a select few the opportunity to own an exclusive piece of Italian automotive art.

In 1950, as part of the inaugural Formula One World Championship organised by the FIA, Farina led his team to multiple victories, including his notable Monte Carlo win. His legacy of fearless driving and a sincere passion for racing continues to enthral car enthusiasts globally.

Georgios Syropoulos, Chief Test Driver at Automobili Pininfarina, expressed, "Driving the Battista around Monaco pays a poignant tribute to Nino Farina, celebrating his courageous spirit and remarkable victories. It's an iconic track for an iconic racer."

Nyck de Vries of Mahindra Racing shared, "Driving the Battista has been phenomenal. Its impressive performance and special design make it a joy to experience, especially on the Monaco circuit."

Automobili Pininfarina and Mahindra Racing leverage their shared resources, enhancing Battista's capabilities through their partnership with the Mahindra Group.

The Battista's striking design includes a deep Rosso Nino red, accented with a Bianco Sestriere, Iconica Blu, and Glorioso Gold livery. It features the Furiosa Pack with carbon fibre enhancements and the Carbon Accent Pack for a sleek finish. Dark details extend across the Goccia roof and exquisite exterior jewellery, all complemented by black anodised aluminium.

Inside, luxury meets performance with Black and Beige Alcantara seats accented with sustainable luxury leather and bespoke detailing. It features custom embroidery, duo-tone stitching, and a Rosso Nino motif to echo the exterior styling.

This Italian masterpiece isn't just visually stunning—it's the most powerful road-legal car in Italy. Its state-of-the-art electric powertrain boasts an astounding 1,900 hp and 2,340 Nm torque. Encased in a lightweight carbon fibre housing, its 120 kWh lithium-ion battery powers incredible acceleration, outperforming Formula One cars with mind-boggling speeds like 0-60 mph in just 1.79 seconds.
