KAMM 912c Full Carbon 60th Edition: Honouring Porsche 912’s Motorsport Heritage

KAMManufaktur marks the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 912 with its most collectable model yet, the KAMM 912c Full Carbon 60th Edition. This special model boasts unique decals, intricate interior details, and historic paint colours that celebrate the Porsche 912's motorsport success, cementing its collector status.

Miki Kázmér, the founder of KAMManufaktur, states, "The 912 has always ignited my passion. Creating a model commemorating 60 years of this iconic sports car is a milestone for KAMM. Our anniversary edition 912c celebrates the distinctive spirit of the 912 and its prestigious automotive history."

Unveiled at the 1965 New York Auto Show, the Porsche 912 was designed to expand Porsche’s appeal, bridging the gap between the retiring 356 and the legacy-defining 911. Although the 912 was often overshadowed by the more famous 911, it now enjoys high esteem among enthusiasts and collectors.

The ultralight KAMM 912c captures the essence of the classic 1960s design, enhanced by the extensive use of proprietary carbon fibre to achieve a class-leading weight of just 750kg. Crafted in Budapest by a team with expertise from Singer, Koenigsegg, and Porsche Motorsport, each 912c originates from a classic 912 donor car, ensuring genuine authenticity.

Initially, Porsche produced just 32,000 units of the 912 between 1965 and 1969, making it significantly more exclusive than its 911 counterpart. To price the 912 competitively, engineers equipped it with the same Type 616/16 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine from the 356, instead of the 911's more significant and more costly six-cylinder engine. This choice reduced costs and improved handling due to the car's lighter weight, even though the engine produced five horsepower less than in the 356, at 90hp. The KAMM 912c's extensively re-engineered air-cooled four-cylinder engine, based on the legendary 616 powerplant, ensures a pure, fully analogue driving experience true to the original.

The KAMM 912c Full Carbon 60th Edition commemorates the 912’s notable motorsport history. By 1967, the 911 had established its reputation in circuit racing and rallying. However, it was the 912 that captured the spotlight that year when Polish driver Sobieslaw Zasada drove his 912 to an overall victory in the European Rally Championship for Group 1 touring cars. This rally-winning performance inspired the stunning Poland Red paintwork of the KAMM 912c 60th Edition.

An additional colour option, Bahama Yellow, mirrors the hue of a 912 that achieved rallying success in Sweden in 1967. That year, three 912s competed in Swedish rallies, with another participating in the Gulf London Rally, securing the 912’s place in motorsport history.

With the 912c 60th Edition, KAMM invites buyers to own a prestigious piece of the 912’s history. Each model, built on the 912c full carbon and subjected to the same customised re-engineering, comes with every available option in the KAMM 912c bespoke programme. These include a Bluetooth audio system, air conditioning, a cabin heater, and wireless phone charging. Owners can customise their 912c 60th Edition for street or track use with gearbox ratios, seats, regulated safety equipment, and engine tuning choices.

Furthermore, buyers will benefit from a 1:1 design consultation with KAMM Founder Miki Kazmer in Budapest. They will receive a special 60th anniversary racing helmet. They will also receive an exclusive selection of anniversary products, including bespoke clothing, KAMM artwork, and a carbon fibre scale model.

Kázmér subtly incorporates modernity to enhance the driving experience while ensuring authenticity. "That authenticity drives us at KAMM, and it's why we have meticulously re-engineered every part of the 912 to meet the demands of modern drivers," he explains.

Celebrating sixty years of the Porsche 912, KAMM has crafted the 912c 60th Edition, a tribute to the original 912 and its global achievements. More than just a collector’s item, this car appeals to those who Dare to Drive, honouring the legacy of an iconic sports car that is a significant part of Porsche history.

The KAMM 912c 60th Edition is now available for order, priced at €395,000.
