2025 Corvette ZR1: Record-Breaking Speed and Exceptional Features Unveiled
The 2025 Corvette ZR1 and its expert team are making their mark on the performance car sector. Four drivers from General Motors have each steered the Corvette ZR1, setting five new lap records at various American circuits during a track tour.
Here are the five circuits and the corresponding Corvette ZR1 lap times achieved by a GM driver:
Watkins Glen Long Course: 1:52.7. Driver: Bill Wise, Lead Performance Engineer, Chassis Controls.
Road America: 2:08.6. Driver: Brian Wallace, Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer.
Road Atlanta: 1:22.8. Driver: Chris Barber, Lead Development Engineer.
Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 1:47.7. Driver: Aaron Link, Global Vehicle Performance Manager.
Virginia International Raceway Grand Course: 2:32.3. Driver: Aaron Link.
These drivers commenced the tour in a pre-production Corvette ZR1 equipped with the optional ZTK Performance Package. This package includes an aggressive high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and a prominent hood Gurney lip constructed from woven carbon fibre. The underbody strakes, replacing the standard front underwing stall Gurney, significantly boost front downforce. The package also comprises stiffer springs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tyres for enhanced suspension tuning.
With four different drivers at the controls, each bringing their unique driving style, these times demonstrate the engineering brilliance of the Corvette ZR1. Prospective customers do not need to be professional drivers to tap into the ultimate performance of this 1,064-horsepower powerhouse.
Possessing a collective 65 years of GM Level 6 driving experience, each driver has a solid background in racing and high-performance driving, having quickly ascended to the top of GM’s driver certification programme and securing Nürburgring Industry Pool certification. This elite team was tasked with pushing the Corvette ZR1 to its limits on the US's most demanding and high-speed circuits.
“Every corner showcases how the Corvette ZR1 continues to elevate the standard,” remarked Tony Roma, Corvette’s Executive Chief Engineer. “From design through engineering, development, validation, to driving and setting impressive lap records—our team manages every aspect internally.”
The Corvette ZR1 with the ZTK Package achieves a top speed of 233 mph, accelerates from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, and completes a quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds. No other production car under £1 million rivals the Corvette ZR1’s performance.
The recommended retail prices for the Corvette ZR1 start at £174,995 (including £1,695 DFC) for the 1LZ coupe and £184,995 for the 1LZ hardtop convertible. Production will commence at General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky in the second quarter of 2025. and Chevrolet will begin accepting orders for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 later this month.
