Amazon Secures Record Purchase of Over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Electric Trucks for Eco-Friendly Delivery

Amazon has confirmed its largest-ever purchase, securing over 200 battery-electric heavy goods vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. This is the most substantial order of electric trucks in Mercedes-Benz Trucks' history. Over the next 18 months, the eActros 600 trucks will be integrated into Amazon’s high-mileage routes in the UK and Germany, enhancing the sustainability of cargo transport between Amazon’s fulfilment centres, sort centres, and delivery stations.

Before this acquisition, Amazon conducted thorough testing with an eActros 600 prototype at a logistics centre in Germany to ensure the vehicle met their stringent operational standards.

In the UK, more than 140 eActros 600 trucks are set to become operational, and it is anticipated to deliver over 300 million packages annually without producing any exhaust emissions.

Amazon plans to establish advanced fast-charging infrastructure at key UK sites to accommodate these vehicles. This includes 360kW electric charging stations capable of charging the eActros 600 trucks from 20 to 80 percent in just over an hour, providing a full charge range of 310 miles (500 km).

Karin Rådström, Chairwoman of the Daimler Truck AG board of management, expressed her delight over the partnership and highlighted the eActros 600's pivotal role in sustainable transportation. Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited, reiterated the significance of the order in advancing Amazon's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions.

Stuart Jeggo, Sales & Marketing Director at Daimler Truck UK Limited, praised the collaborative efforts that led to this significant order. James Venables, Head of Future Sustainability at Daimler Truck UK Limited, emphasised the eActros 600's recognition as International Truck of the Year for 2025, which confirms its status as a technology leader in its class.

Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, underscored the order’s role in Amazon’s strategy to electrify its European transport fleet and meet its Climate Pledge to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The eActros 600, with its 600-kilowatt-hour battery capacity and an efficient electric drive axle developed in-house, offers a practical driving range of 500 kilometres (310 miles) under real-world conditions. The truck’s design supports intermediate charging during statutory breaks, potentially extending its daily range beyond 1,000 kilometres, subject to the availability of charging infrastructure.

This flagship electric heavy goods vehicle (eHGV) has validated its capabilities under real-life conditions, notably during the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024,” a 15,000-kilometre all-electric development journey across 22 countries. The eActros has also earned the prestigious title “International Truck of the Year 2025,” a testament to its innovative design and performance.
