Aston Martin Awarded Royal Warrant by His Majesty The King: A Historic First
For the first time in its distinguished 112-year history, Aston Martin proudly bears the Royal Arms of the British sovereign, having been officially granted a Royal Warrant by Appointment to His Majesty The King.
“This honour represents a truly historic and proud milestone for Aston Martin,” said Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin. “It strengthens our esteemed relationship with the Royal Family and highlights our unwavering commitment to British design, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence—values championed by His Majesty himself.”
Although the Royal Warrant was confirmed in May 2024, Aston Martin has only recently incorporated the new Royal Arms of King Charles III into its official branding. The College of Arms released the newly designed arms, the authority responsible for heraldic matters in England founded in 1484. The heralds of the College are members of the Royal Household and act under the Crown’s authority, maintaining official records of coats of arms and pedigrees.
The Royal Warrant follows Aston Martin’s receipt of the King’s Award for Enterprise in 2024, recognising the marque’s innovative contributions. It builds on a rich, eight-decade-long association with the Royal Family, beginning in 1954 when Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, took delivery of a three-litre Lagonda. In 1955, the Duke of Kent acquired a DB2/4 from the team that triumphed in the Monte Carlo Rally—solidifying the Royal Family’s enduring affinity for Aston Martin.
The King’s cherished DB6 Mk2 Volante has become an enduring symbol of the Royal Family’s connection with Aston Martin. A long-time enthusiast, His Majesty has been a member of the Aston Martin Owners Club since 1973. The marque previously held a Royal Warrant as a Motor Car Manufacturer and Repairer to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales since 1982. Now, for the first time, it carries the arms of the sovereign himself.
Aston Martin’s presence at key royal occasions has further cemented its place in British heritage. The DB6 Mk2 Volante famously featured at the 2011 royal wedding of the current Prince and Princess of Wales, as the couple departed Buckingham Palace in the classic model to the delight of thousands. In 2020, His Majesty, then Prince of Wales, inaugurated Aston Martin’s state-of-the-art DBX SUV manufacturing facility in St Athan, Wales—the first car production plant in the country in over 50 years.
In 2022, the same Volante made a regal appearance at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Birmingham. Most recently, in 2024, it was proudly displayed at Sandringham during a unique Aston Martin Owners Club gathering, where over 75 models were showcased—a fitting tribute to a marque now officially appointed by the monarch.
With this new Royal Warrant, Aston Martin’s role as a symbol of British excellence, innovation, and heritage has been further elevated—securing its place in the nation's proud royal legacy.
