Aston Martin Unveils the New Vanquish Volante – The Ultimate Open-Top V12 Flagship
Aston Martin has unveiled the highly anticipated Vanquish Volante, the most potent and fastest open-top series production model in the brand’s history. Positioned at the very summit of ultra-luxury performance motoring, the Vanquish Volante redefines the grand touring convertible, combining a visceral V12 experience with elegant British design.
Alongside its coupé councoupért, the Vanquish Volante is the most potent front-engined production car currently available—a celebration of the iconic Volante nameplate's 60th anniversary.
At the heart of the Vanquish Volante lies Aston Martin’s new twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine, delivering a remarkable 835PS and 1000Nm of torque. With a top speed of 214mph, this flagship Volante matches the coupé inCoupepéperformance, offering the thrill of open-air motoring without compromising on dynamics or capability.
Power is channelled to the rear wheels through an advanced eight-speed ZF automatic transmission positioned within the rear axle for perfect weight distribution. An electronically controlled E-differential (E-diff) – capable of switching from fully open to fully locked in just 135 milliseconds – ensures maximum agility and control across all driving conditions.
Developed in parallel with the coupé, the VCoupepé Volante benefits from meticulous chassis tuning and structural optimisation, delivering a driving experience as sharp as it is refined. The new Bilstein DTX dampers provide exceptional wheel control and a marked distinction between drive modes—GT, Sport, and Sport+—each offering a unique character tailored to the driver’s preference.
Despite a significant increase in power over its predecessor, the Volante’s weight gain has been limited to just 95kg, resulting in a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 416hp per tonne.
The bonded aluminium structure, strengthened with optimised underbody stiffening, delivers a 75% increase in lateral stiffness, ensuring torsional rigidity remains nearly identical to the coupé, dCoupepéthe convertible roof.
Vanquish Volante embodies modern Aston Martin design, maintaining the coupé’s slcoupé’sb-rearward proportions. Signature design cues such as the F1®-inspired thermos louvres, 80mm extended wheelbase, and floating rear shield add presence and purpose. The kicked-up Kamm tail and muscular rear haunches complete a silhouette that balances beauty with aggression.
The lightweight K-fold roof opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds – even on the move at up to 31mph (50km/h). Operable remotely via the key fob, the acoustically enhanced fabric roof delivers coupe-rivalling thermal insulation and stows with a best-in-class stack height of 260mm, preserving the Volante’s fluid lines.
Inside, the Vanquish Volante’s cabin showcases Aston Martin’s next-generation architecture, blending advanced technology with timeless craftsmanship. A lowered centre console creates an airy, spacious feel, while premium materials and tactile controls elevate the ultra-luxury atmosphere.
The 10.25” Pure Black touchscreen infotainment system offers full online connectivity alongside a customisable digital driver display. A bespoke 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system comes standard, expertly tuned to the Volante’s cabin for an immersive audio experience—incredibly exhilarating with the roof down.
Engineered as a two-seat convertible from the outset, Vanquish Volante incorporates Sports Plus Seats as standard, with carbon fibre Performance Seats available optionally. The cabin layout ensures optimal driving ergonomics, with a low centre console and sculpted door panels offering freedom of movement even during spirited driving.
The carbon ceramic brake system, 27kg lighter than conventional iron discs, delivers fade-free stopping power and enables torque vectoring for enhanced cornering stability. Paired with bespoke Pirelli P ZERO™ tyres explicitly engineered for the Vanquish, the Volante offers exceptional grip in summer and winter
The Volante name dates back to 1965 when the Short Chassis Volante debuted with design elements from the DB5 and DB6. Just 37 examples were produced, making it one of the rarest and most significant convertibles in Aston Martin's history. Today, the Vanquish Volante honours that legacy by becoming the definitive expression of open-top grand touring.
Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, stated:
"The opportunity to create a true flagship Volante is rare. Designing it alongside the Coupé enCoupepéerfect proportions and unparalleled drama. Vanquish Volante is breathtakingly beautiful, uncompromising in performance, and the definition of noble elegance."
