Aston Martin's Valkyrie Hypercar Takes On Le Mans Challenge
In 2025, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the ultimate hypercar, will blaze a trail as it enters the 24 Hours of Le Mans, embodying the racing spirit it was designed for.
With staunch support from Aston Martin's endurance racing partner, Heart of Racing (HoR), at least one Valkyrie racecar will dominate the Hypercar class in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships (IMSA). This means the prototype Valkyrie will rev its engines at Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.
Performance is the heartbeat of Aston Martin's creations. Just as the DB12 and DBX707 set new standards, the Valkyrie is the definitive hypercar, unrestrained by regulations and delivering awe-inspiring performance.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda, emphasizes, "Performance drives everything at Aston Martin, and motorsport is its ultimate expression."
Endurance racing is in Aston Martin's DNA, with a legacy of 19 class victories at Le Mans. Now, in its 110th anniversary, Aston Martin returns to Le Mans with the Valkyrie, epitomizing its racing heritage.
Aston Martin Performance Technologies, housed at the AMR Technology Campus alongside the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team, is crafting a competition prototype Valkyrie for the WEC and IMSA. Powered by a modified Cosworth V12 engine, the Valkyrie will meet Hypercar class requirements, ensuring parity with competitors.
Heart of Racing will lead Aston Martin's charge in WEC and IMSA, making Valkyrie the first purebred hypercar in both championships.
Ian James, Team Principal of Heart of Racing, affirms, "It's a privilege to bring Aston Martin back to endurance racing."
Aston Martin's entry into the Hypercar class ensures its presence across all endurance racing, from Hypercar to GT4, including Formula 1®.
Aston Martin's commitment extends to developing new GT3 and GT4 cars based on the Vantage platform, adhering to the latest GT regulations.
Adam Carter, Aston Martin's Head of Endurance Motorsport, declares, "Today marks a new chapter for Aston Martin in endurance racing."
With Heart of Racing, Aston Martin is poised to compete for victory at all levels of sportscar racing, solidifying its legacy in motorsport.
