BMW Unleashes the Stunning Concept Skytop at Concorso d'Eleganza: A Masterpiece of Design and Performance

The BMW Group proudly unveils the exclusive BMW Concept Skytop at this year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the picturesque shores of Lake Como. This unique, elegantly designed two-seater open car stands out as a one-of-a-kind vehicle sculpture, a testament to its exclusivity and rarity. Boasting flowing, sporty elegance and a muscular, athletic stance, the concept car melds warm monochromatic colours with luxurious materials and expert craftsmanship inside and out.

Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, praises the BMW Concept Skytop: "This design is unique and exotic, continuing the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este tradition. It masterfully blends driving dynamics with unparalleled elegance, reminiscent of historic models like the BMW Z8 and BMW 503."

The BMW Concept Skytop's exterior is a testament to innovation, commanding attention with its clean lines and muscular surfaces that pull the eye towards the rear. Innovative features include winglets seamlessly integrated into the door shoulders, replacing traditional handles, and light alloy wheels adorned with precise lamellas, enhancing its distinctive look. These unique elements are sure to intrigue automotive enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

From above, the vehicle's long, sweeping bonnet, iconic BMW shark-nose with an illuminated grille, and tapered rear section make a striking impression. The design subtly nods to the legendary BMW Z8 roadster, especially with the pronounced spline from the bonnet through the interior to the aluminium tailgate trim, highlighting the dynamic silhouette.

The design integrates advanced LED technology into the slimmest profile headlights currently available. Mounted on milled aluminium, these headlights and the sharply defined rear lights further accentuate the BMW Concept Skytop’s purist design.

Behind the two seats, a leather-finished roll-over bar with side fins and a fully retractable rear window enhance the car's sleek profile. The two removable leather roof parts can be conveniently stowed in the luggage compartment.

The interior-exterior colour scheme transitions smoothly, with or without the roof. The rear section's reddish-brown roof colour blends into the muted silver exterior with a chrome shadow effect, a sophisticated gradient crafted by master painters at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.

The leather seats feature brogue-style accents, and a consistent reddish-brown tone provides a luxurious, spacious feel. Crystal applications embedded in the cockpit add a touch of elegance, and all interior surfaces are crafted in traditional saddlery at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing.

Echoing the iconic BMW Z8, the BMW Concept Skytop is powered by the most powerful V8 engine in BMW's drivetrain portfolio, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience. This concept car pays homage to BMW’s rich heritage and sets a new benchmark in automotive design and luxury. Its connection to the past will evoke a sense of nostalgia in automotive enthusiasts and industry professionals.
