Limited Edition Bertone RUNABOUT Debuts: Reintroducing Automotive Elegance

The Bertone RUNABOUT heralds a fresh chapter in the brand’s prestigious history, launching as the inaugural model in the Bertone Classic Collection. It revives the audacious design of the original 1969 Runabout. Limited to just 25 units worldwide, this exclusive model starts at EUR 350,000 (excluding VAT) and is poised to transform modern driving dynamics. Production will commence in mid-2026, with pre-orders currently available.

The RUNABOUT comes in two distinctive configurations, each designed to offer an unparalleled open-air driving experience:

  • Barchetta: Tailored for purists desiring a direct connection with the road, it features a minimal windscreen and a completely open design.

  • Targa: This flexible option includes a full windscreen and a removable roof, quickly adapting to varying driving conditions.

Adhering to the Zero principle in design and geometry, the RUNABOUT's unique profile is instantly memorable. Its two main lines are prominently visible, creating a striking visual impact. The side features an L-shaped line that begins at the roll bar and extends to the front, forming a wedge shape. A horizontal line at the bottom gives the car a subtly nautical appearance.

Its iconic pop-up headlights are central to the RUNABOUT’s appeal, which marry nostalgia with cutting-edge technology. Unlike the 1969 model's headlamps, which were more prominently placed within the rollbar behind the seats, these headlights are seamlessly integrated into the car's design.

The car also features a modern take on the classic truncated tail, Coda Tronca, with round taillights, an industrial-styled engine cover, and an artistically positioned aluminium fuel cap. An Aerodynamic S duct cleverly incorporated into the front optimises airflow, enhancing cooling and downforce. A signature horizontal line elegantly unites the sculpted fenders, improving the vehicle’s bold stance.

Bertone offers an exquisite colour palette that merges heritage with contemporary style. The new shades include:

  • Rame Antico: A sophisticated antique copper that pays homage to traditional Italian artisanship.

  • Azzurro Mediterraneo: A vivid azure blue that mirrors the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters, embodying the luminous Italian coastline and its maritime legacy.

  • Bianco Perla: A soft, pearlescent ivory that evokes Italy's exquisite marble.

Engineered for exhilaration, the RUNABOUT features a mid-mounted V6 engine that produces 460 hp, coupled with a 6-speed manual close-ratio gearbox for precise shifts. This setup ensures the engine operates within its optimal power band, delivering peak performance. The focus on lightweight agility and sheer power guarantees a driving experience that is second to none, perfect for those passionate about the road.
