Discover Jade's Mystique: Porsche's Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade Drives Innovation
Beneath the Earth's surface, a remarkable transformation occurs, producing the precious gemstone jade. Over thousands of years, minerals in the Earth’s crust heat and undergo intense pressure, crystallising and fusing, their unique colours of green, yellow, gold, white, and occasionally blue forming distinctive patterns. This natural journey from mineral to art piece lays the foundation for jade's enduring charm.
Inspired by this gem, Porsche unveiled the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade through the Sonderwunsch programme. In collaboration with the Porsche Asia Pacific team, designers and paint specialists at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur aimed to embody the vibrancy and creativity of Southeast Asia. Adorned with mythical symbols, this bespoke creation pays homage to this vital region.
The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade is set to make its global debut at a magnificent regional launch event for the Taycan on 5 September in Singapore. After its unveiling, the one-off model will be displayed across various Southeast Asian locations before being auctioned for charity in 2025.
This Sonderwunsch production is based on the extensively enhanced 2024 Taycan model. The updated versions offer increased power, excellent range, quicker acceleration, and improved charging efficiency and stability. The Turbo S model achieves up to 700 kW (952 PS) peak power with Launch Control and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor.
For the first time, Porsche has combined two Chromaflair effect paints in the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. The complex preparation and implementation stages spanned about a year, with the paintwork meticulously applied by hand over roughly 80 hours.
Chromaflair pigments are ultra-thin "flakes" that shift colour depending on the viewing angle. These flakes include an opaque, reflective aluminium core surrounded by a glass-like layer that changes colour based on thickness. At only 1 µm thick, these flakes are far thinner than a strand of human hair.
The vehicle's colours, "Urban Bamboo"—a bright green with yellow and gold hues—and "Shifting Carbon," a dark grey with black and blue tones, culminate in the evocative name Celestial Jade. In Asia, jade is revered as a noble and precious material linked with happiness and longevity, while carbon symbolises Porsche's pioneering spirit, often seen in motor racing.
Additionally, the car features a bespoke "LongMa" logo, a powerful and auspicious symbol representing a mythical creature with a dragon’s head and a horse’s body. This emblem adorns various parts of the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, aligning with 2024's Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dragon.
The car also sports carbon-weave finish components replacing standard inlays, enhancing its visual appeal with a shimmering, varied hue effect.
Furthermore, Porsche now offers a "Leather to Sample" customisation option for the Taycan, introduced with the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. This pairs the standard Slate Grey with the custom Englishgreen, among approximately 150 available colours.
Porsche has reinvigorated its iconic Sonderwunsch programme from the late 1970s, enabling customers to create personalised, one-off vehicles. The service has been expanded to include post-delivery customisations. Customers can engage directly with Porsche experts for bespoke colour and material requests, starting with a personalised consultation at various global locations such as Zuffenhausen, Atlanta, or Los Angeles.
