Discover the 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa at Broad Arrow’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction

Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) company, is excited to announce the consignment of the highly esteemed 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa, considered one of the most original early Ferrari models, to its first Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction. This remarkable vehicle, never before available for public sale and estimated between €5.5 million and €7.5 million, was one of the first purchases by the Besana brothers, among Ferrari's initial clientele. The Spyder Corsa, chassis 004 C, boasts a sixth-place finish at the 1948 Targa Florio and participated in the 1948 and 1949 Mille Miglia races. It also competed in period Formula Two races and hill climbs.

Accompanied by Ferrari Classiche White Book certification, this car maintains its original body, chassis, 2.0-liter V12 engine, and five-speed racing gearbox. It has been under the stewardship of one family from 1965 to 2015, and its remarkable provenance is well-documented through multiple in-depth articles. The car has garnered several awards, including a 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance class award, and has been displayed at Pebble Beach as part of Casa Ferrari in 2019 and 2022. Additional accolades include a Best of Show at the 2003 FCA National Meet and Platinum Awards from both Cavallino and FCA and being a featured car at the 2006 Cavallino Classic.

Barney Ruprecht, VP of Auctions at Broad Arrow, expresses his enthusiasm, "Presenting the 1948 Ferrari 166, chassis 004 C, at our first Italian auction this May at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is a privilege.
