TORSUS, renowned for manufacturing the toughest heavy-duty off-road buses, has launched the next generation of its flagship bus, PRAETORIAN. With over 50 new technical updates and options for 2024, the PRAETORIAN's enhanced capabilities allow it to conquer the most challenging terrains, undertake the most demanding jobs, and comfortably transport up to 35 passengers in any condition worldwide.
Named after the elite Praetorian Guard of the Roman Army, the TORSUS PRAETORIAN embodies indomitable character and superior performance. This 4x4 off-road bus, designed to operate in extreme conditions, sets new standards in its third generation. Upgrades include a fully enhanced suspension, a strengthened chassis, all-round disc brakes, a redesigned cabin, and improved HVAC systems, ensuring no detail is overlooked.
TORSUS’s commitment to using the best materials and advanced manufacturing techniques enhances the 8.7-metre PRAETORIAN TG3's comfort and refinement. Enhanced suspension and chassis improve agility, allowing drivers to maximise the potential of its 1,150Nm six-cylinder MAN diesel engine, 12-speed transmission, and heavy-duty 4x4 drivetrain.

The new PRAETORIAN features an extensively upgraded chassis and suspension system, including new silent blocks and mounting points for the superstructure floor, enhancing passenger comfort and vehicle rigidity. Tomas Micuda, TORSUS Technical Manager, highlights the addition of a complete front air suspension assembly and a new rear air suspension system, significantly improving comfort, agility, and control across rough terrains.
Powered by a six-cylinder, 6.9-litre diesel engine with 1,150Nm of torque, the PRAETORIAN delivers unmatched pulling power through its 12-speed Tipmatic ZF AStronic transmission and heavy-duty 4x4 drivetrain. Enhanced driver control includes six selectable driving modes, such as ‘Efficiency Mode’ for fuel optimisation and ‘Emergency Mode’ for rapid response scenarios.
The PRAETORIAN’s advanced features include a new 12-tonne 30-metre front winch for obstacle removal and a robust HVAC package for optimal passenger comfort. The redesigned interior offers a new dashboard, gear shifter, and improved visibility features, ensuring a superior driving experience. Enhanced safety features include lane detection, light and rain sensors, and better visibility through new windows and mirrors.
The PRAETORIAN’s rugged design ensures it can withstand the harshest environments, with improvements such as a front mask with increased opening height for better maintenance access and a double latching mechanism for secure closure. The third-generation PRAETORIAN TG3 production has begun, with the vehicle already in service in Spain, Germany, and Ukraine. The vehicle starts at 225,831 EUR (GBP 192,112). The MAN chassis and powertrain come with full warranties and are serviceable by all MAN suppliers globally.
