Experience the Ultimate Bespoke Sports Car: KALMAR Automotive Launches First 7-97 in the USA at Canepa

KALMAR Automotive has recently launched its first 7-97 in the USA, a masterpiece now showcased at Canepa, California’s leading collector car specialist. This marks a significant expansion of KALMAR's bespoke sports car offerings into the US market.

The unveiling of the KALMAR 7-97 Classic, named 'C1' in honour of Canepa, epitomises KALMAR's innovative spirit in automotive design. The 'C1' stands out as the most advanced version of the 7-97 series, featuring an array of coveted engineering enhancements.

Built on a 993 base, the C1 boasts the lightest, most rigid body available. Its redesigned decklid, coupled with KALMAR’s exclusive bonded glass technology, enhances aerodynamics by removing the original 911's rain gutters. This significantly reduces lift, drag, and wind noise.

Prominently displayed at Canepa’s Scotts Valley headquarters, the 'C1' is a testament to KALMAR's extensive customisation options. More versions of the 7-97 will shortly cross the Atlantic.

Each 7-97 pays homage to the iconic Porsche 911 ST of the 1970s, built on an air-cooled 964 or 993 chassis. Available in coupe, cabriolet, or targa styles, plus the RS-R, these cars highlight KALMAR's precision engineering and meticulous attention to detail, allowing for complete customisation.

The four-wheel drive C1, at the peak of the 7-97 range, is powered by a 4.0-litre engine delivering 401 horsepower and 426 Nm of torque. Advanced features like a 997 GT3 crankshaft, drive-by-wire throttle, and dual oil coolers enhance its performance. The C1 also features a Motec M150 ECU and a custom air filtration system.

Drivers will experience unparalleled control and agility thanks to adaptive suspension, a six-speed gearbox, and ultra-light lithium batteries. Additional options like a traction control system with Sport mode, ceramic brakes, and a front axle lift system elevate the driving experience.

The 7-97 C1’s interior boasts a full leather setup with Recaro sports seats and modern amenities such as remote central locking and a Bluetooth audio system. The electronic key, a unique feature, enables easy access to the luggage compartments.

The 7-97 series, renowned for its lightweight carbon fibre panels and advanced electric systems, maintains a near-perfect weight balance, essential for superior handling and performance.

Jan Kalmar, founder of KALMAR Automotive, expressed his excitement about the C1’s US debut, envisioning it navigating the challenging terrains of America’s West Coast.

Bruce Canepa, founder of the Canepa Group, praised the timeless design and uncompromised quality of the 7-97, underscoring its ultimate air-cooled driving experience.

KALMAR Automotive continues to push the limits of automotive excellence. No more than 12 7-97s are built annually, ensuring exclusivity and bespoke tailoring to each owner’s preferences.

As KALMAR Automotive’s sole North American representative, Canepa Group is a key player in expanding KALMAR’s global footprint. The 7-97 C1 is poised to attract car enthusiasts across the region. Canepa offers close-up viewings by appointment.
