Today, Boreham Motorworks is delighted to announce the return of an automotive icon—the Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000. Fifty years after the release of its last high-performance variant, Boreham Motorworks is now accepting applications for a strictly limited production run of just 150 units globally, featuring continuation chassis numbers.
As an official brand licence partner of the Ford Motor Company, Boreham Motorworks is committed to preserving and enhancing the legacy of some of Ford’s most legendary vehicles. This commitment is exemplified in the ultimate evolution of the Mk1 and RS lineage—a car crafted for the pure enthusiast. The Escort Rallye Sport line is renowned for its exceptional performance and handling, continually redefining what it means to drive a high-performance car.
The pioneering Continumod™, a unique concept developed by Boreham Motorworks, differs from traditional restomods by eliminating the need for a donor vehicle. Created under an official agreement with Ford Motor Company, each Continumod™ is constructed from the ground up, using modern materials and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.
Clients can choose two distinct engine choices, each embodying the spirit of Ford’s RS legacy while delivering contemporary performance. The standard model features an enhanced Twin Cam engine, now at 1845cc with fuel injection, producing 185PS, coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission—a tribute to the original Escort Mk1 Twin Cam. Alternatively, an all-new, motorsport-derived 4-cylinder engine offers a high-revving experience, achieving 10,000 RPM and 300 PS, managed through a bespoke titanium exhaust system and a 5-speed dogleg gearbox.
The new Ford Escort Mk1 RS is driven by a commitment to dynamic precision, reflecting its RS heritage. Available in both left-hand and right-hand drive, the car ensures optimal weight distribution and responsive handling, thanks to MacPherson front struts and meticulously optimised suspension geometry.
The new model maintains the original high-performance Escorts' raw, analogue driving experience. It features a lightweight, fully floating rear axle constructed from aluminium and titanium. This is complemented by an advanced limited-slip differential and coil-over dampers designed to deliver superb balance and control.
The Ford Escort Mk1 has been thoroughly re-engineered using original blueprints and modern CAD technology, a process unimaginable to the original designers. This rigorous approach has allowed Boreham Motorworks to improve the vehicle's manufacturability, achieve modern tolerances, and optimise its structural integrity and handling characteristics.
The Ford Escort Mk1 RS features a driver-focused interior that blends lightweight construction with comfort. Modern amenities such as heated screens and air conditioning are seamlessly integrated while maintaining the tactile allure of fine materials such as Alcantara and leather.
With only 150 units available and a starting price of £295,000, each Ford Escort Mk1 RS comes with a 2-year, 20,000-mile warranty, ensuring confidence and satisfaction on every journey. Anticipation is building as the public and press await their first look in the summer of 2025. Production will start in the third quarter.
