Experience the Ultimate in Lightweight Classic Sports Cars: KAMM's 912c Now in the US
KAMManufaktur leads the charge in the ultra-lightweight, classic sports car arena with its revolutionary approach to the iconic 912. The KAMM 912c, known for its feather-light frame and robust four-cylinder engine, has captured the admiration of drivers, critics, and collectors throughout Europe.
The company has recently marked its entry into the US market, celebrating the delivery of the first 912c to Miami and announcing the appointment of an official US dealer.
The KAMM 912c embodies the essence of the 1960s classic, enhanced significantly by the extensive use of carbon fibre. It achieves a remarkable weight of just 750kg (depending on specifications). Based on the renowned 616' model, its meticulously re-engineered, air-cooled four-cylinder engine ensures a fully analogue driving experience.
Miklós "Miki" Kázmér, founder of KAMManufaktur, profoundly appreciates the Porsche 912, which was historically overshadowed by the more famous 911. His commitment to detail and tradition has reinvigorated interest in the 912.
For Kázmér, launching the 912c in the US is a moment of pride spurred by a long-ago visit to California’s Petersen Museum. "The original 911R at the museum ignited my passion to create the 912c, a car that encapsulates a purpose-driven design and classic aesthetic for true driving aficionados," he explains.
Since its initial US debut at the 1965 New York Auto Show, the Porsche 912 was celebrated as an elegant and practical sports car. KAMManufaktur has elevated this legacy, enhancing the car's craftsmanship, performance, and daily usability.
The 912c, crafted in Budapest by a team with pedigrees from Singer, Koenigsegg, and Porsche Motorsport, remains faithful to its origins while incorporating modern, lightweight carbon fibre panels and preserving the original chassis.
Each 912c is custom-made, combining modern amenities discreetly within its authentically designed, top-tier craftsmanship.
Collaborations with renowned brands like Fusina and TracTive ensure every aspect remains faithful to the original and surpasses expectations. Kázmér has focused intensely on weight reduction, employing carbon fibre throughout and incorporating Lexan polycarbonate windows and 40mm Cro-Moly tubing to strengthen the body, with an optional FIA-approved roll cage for track enthusiasts.
Under the bonnet, KAMM has enhanced the original 1.6-litre engine to a 2.0-litre powerhouse, providing 185hp and 205Nm of torque. This maintains critical elements of the 616 engine but enhances its power and reliability for everyday use.
The custom-engineered short-shift transmission connects to a Porsche hydraulic racing clutch, leading to a ZF limited-slip differential. AP Racing provides the braking system, while TracTive's coil-over suspension offers the perfect balance of comfort and track-ready performance.
The interior showcases meticulous attention to detail with electronic Smith instruments and a classic Fusina steering wheel. Fusina, celebrated for its seats in the 1960s and ‘70s, crafts bespoke seats for the 912c, enhancing its authentic allure.
Modern features like air conditioning, wireless phone charging, and heated seats are subtly integrated, maintaining the car’s pure, classic essence.
Each 912c model, whether the Semi-Carbon with original steel elements, the Full-Carbon with comprehensive carbon fibre bodywork, or the Targa version, is uniquely tailored to the owner’s preferences and meticulously constructed over 12 months.
KAMManufaktur has appointed ZWECK as its North American sales and service partner, based in Miami, to bring this unparalleled driving experience to US enthusiasts. Suneal Nandigam of ZWECK praises the 912c, noting its exceptional engineering and execution that rivals industry leaders like Singer and Gunther Werks.
