The celebrated Super Cygnet is on sale directly from its initial owner for the first time. Crafted over an intense ten-month period by Aston Martin’s engineering team and the bespoke 'Q by Aston Martin – Commission Service,' the Super Cygnet was completed for road use and first registered in 2018. It debuted at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, captivating spectators and car enthusiasts alike as it raced up the renowned Goodwood hill-climb.
Described as one of the most exciting, outrageous, and compact creations to bear the iconic Aston Martin wings, the Super Cygnet is built upon a significantly re-engineered right-hand drive Cygnet body shell, enhanced with a safety roll cage for increased robustness.
The formidable 4.7-litre, 430 BHP engine from the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S is paired with a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission, delivering dynamic rear-wheel drive. The Cygnet incorporates the V8 Vantage S’s front and rear subframe assemblies, including sophisticated suspension and ABS braking systems, tailored to fit its compact dimensions.
This custom-commissioned Cygnet V8 comes fully equipped for road use, featuring climate control, a carbon fibre dashboard, Vantage instrumentation, Recaro seating, a comprehensive safety roll cage, and several unique interior enhancements.
Weighing just 1375kg, including fluids, and with 430bhp, the Super Cygnet boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 313bhp/tonne. It accelerates to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 170 mph.
Virtually sharing only the original Cygnet’s body panels, glazing, and lighting, every element of the Super Cygnet V8 is exclusive to this remarkable example of engineering ingenuity and creativity. Its place in Aston Martin’s hall of fame is well-deserved, as it offers an extreme and delightful driving experience.
After its successful debut at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, driven by noted motoring journalist Henry Catchpole, who remarked, ‘It’s just hilarious… it’s brilliant,' and Darren Turner, a triple Le Mans 24hr class-winning driver, achieved over 155 mph at Bruntingthorpe’s airstrip.
Now offered for sale after its inspired creation, this bespoke, road-registered Super Cygnet has been meticulously maintained by Aston Martin’s engineers and professionally stored when not showcased. Currently in near-new condition with only 2,900 miles covered since its initial launch in 2018, it is as adept in urban settings as it is on the open road.
The car includes a fully documented technical specification, owner/operator manual, a Cygnet V8 owner’s handbook, security features like a tracker and immobiliser, a bespoke fitted car cover, and a distinctive model-related registration number.
Uniquely charismatic, this one-off V8 Cygnet is poised to delight any car enthusiast and is now available for viewing and purchase at the Nicholas Mee & Co Ltd Hertfordshire Showrooms.
Background of the Cygnet: The Aston Martin Cygnet initially caused quite a stir among enthusiasts when introduced in 2009. Based on Toyota’s innovative IQ model, this compact city car featured a 97bhp, 1.33-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, re-imagined by Aston Martin’s Q division to merge luxury city motoring with unique styling and premium customisation options. Production spanned from mid-2011 until 2013, with approximately 800 units delivered.
