Nissan Reveals 2025 Motorsport Strategy: Elevating Electric Racing and Super GT Supremacy

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customising Co., Ltd. (NMC) have announced the details of their 2025 motorsport activities.

Takao Katagiri, leader of Nissan’s Motorsport Business Unit and CEO of NMC, remarked, “This year, Nissan/NMC will embrace new challenges and transformations with unwavering effort. Our commitment to motorsport electrification supports our objective of achieving a carbon-neutral society. In our seventh Formula E season, we won the second race under the newly introduced GEN3 Evo regulations. Ass previously disclosed, we are poised to recapture the series championship with revamped organisation in Super GTs. Furthermore, we aim to enhance the value of motorsports by offering GT-R and Z-based customer racing cars and providing technical support. As always, we will continue to excite our customers and fans worldwide.”

Nissan competes in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to promote the excitement and appeal of zero-emission electric vehicles to a global audience. Season 11, already in progress, marks Nissan’s seventh year in the competition.

This season introduces the GEN3 Evo regulations, equipping the GEN3 Evo race car with all-wheel drive, a robust new body kit, and numerous other improvements, establishing it as the fastest Formula E car. Following an outstanding 2024 season, Oliver Rowland is now driving the #23 Nissan e-4ORCE 05, while Norman Nato has returned in the #17 car. The team has excelled in the first two rounds, with Rowland securing his fourth Formula E victory in Mexico City.

This season, Nissan/NMC is competing in the Super GT GT500 class with four teams, aiming to secure the series championship with the Nissan Z NISMO GT500, as previously outlined. The oversight of the Nissan teams has been partitioned for more targeted support, with Shinichi Kiga continuing to manage technical development, and Toshikazu Tanaka handling operations and sporting areas.

Nissan/NMC remains committed to providing technical support to teams racing the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. In the Super GT GT300 class, official partner teams Kondo Racing and Helm Motorsports will each field one car, as will Nilzz Racing and Runup Sports. Additionally, two vehicles will participate in the Super Taikyu Series ST-X class, and three cars will compete in the GT World Challenge Asia and SRO Japan Cup, with Nissan/NMC supporting each team’s activities.

NMC also provides technical support to customer teams racing Nissans in various series.

The Fairlady Z (RZ34) developed by Gainer Co., Ltd. competes in the Super GT300 class.

Two Fairlady Z NISMO RCs participate in the Super Taikyu Series ST-3 class.

Nissan and the Nissan Automobile Technical College continue the Nissan Mechanic Challenge, a programme aimed at enhancing the technical skills and teamwork of Nissan dealership technical staff and students. Additionally, Nissan/NMC will host sports-driving lessons at the NISMO Driving Academy for owners of NISMO road cars, including the Nissan GT-R, the Fairlady Z, and the Skyline 400R. The NISMO Festival, a fan appreciation event, is also planned this year.
