Hennessey Marks Achievement of ‘World’s Fastest Car’ Title with Ambitious 300mph Goals

Hennessey Special Vehicles, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer, aims to propel its 1,817bhp Venom F5 beyond 300mph in 2024. This ambitious plan coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Venom GT, which claimed the title of the world's fastest car in February 2014.

In 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT set a verified world record with a top speed of 270.49mph, establishing itself as the fastest production car, and to this day, it holds the title of the world's fastest manual transmission car. Surpassing the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport's previous record of 268.86mph was a remarkable achievement for Hennessey.

With 22 customer Venom F5 hypercars already delivered and an expanded engineering team, Hennessey is now focused on pushing the boundaries even further with the Venom F5, aiming to achieve the title of 'America's Hypercar'. During development, the Venom F5 clocked over 270mph at the former NASA Shuttle Landing Facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The next objective is to find a suitable runway or public road to safely accelerate the 1,817bhp twin-turbo V8 beast beyond 300mph and return to zero.

John Hennessey, the company's founder and CEO, expresses enthusiasm for the competition, hoping that Koenigsegg and Bugatti will join the quest for speed. With the expertise of the recently recruited Brian Jones, former AMG ONE Chief Engineer, and David Donohue, the record-setting racing driver, Hennessey is confident in its ability to unlock Venom F5's full potential.

Brian Jones, Hennessey's VP of Engineering, sees the Venom F5 as a pinnacle of combustion engineering, blending immense power with lightweight construction for exceptional acceleration. Meanwhile, David Donohue, the accomplished racing champion, will oversee all high-speed testing and record runs as the hypercar test driver.

While all 24 Venom F5 Coupes sold out in 2021, Hennessey still offers a limited selection of build slots for other variants of the Venom F5, including open-top and track-focused versions.
