Honda Reveals New 0 Series EV Prototypes and ASIMO OS at CES 2025
Honda showcased the world premiere of two prototype models at CES 2025—the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV. These models signal the expansion of the Honda 0 Series, set to be introduced to global markets in 2026. Furthermore, the company unveiled its bespoke vehicle operating system, the ASIMO OS, designed for its worldwide EV range.
Developed from the concept model revealed at CES 2024, the Honda 0 Saloon prototype is slated for market launch in 2026. While preserving the original concept's design, this prototype combines a low profile and sporty aesthetics that set the Saloon apart in the EV sector. It also features a more spacious interior than its exterior dimensions suggest.
The Honda 0 Saloon, the flagship model of the Honda 0 Series, is built on a newly developed, dedicated EV architecture and features a host of next-generation technologies that embody Honda's "Thin, Light, and Wise" design philosophy.
At CES 2025, Honda focused on introducing certain technologies that enhance the 'Wise' aspect of the Honda 0 Saloon, including the first practical implementation of Level 3 automated driving technology worldwide and "ultra-personal optimisation" facilitated by the ASIMO OS. These advancements promise a personalised mobility experience for each user.
The production version of the Honda 0 Saloon is slated to initially launch in the North American market in 2026, followed by releases in Japan, Europe, and other global markets.
Following the Space-Hub concept unveiled at CES 2024, Honda presented a prototype of a mid-size EV SUV, the first model of the Honda 0 Series. Applying the "Thin, Light, and Wise" approach, this SUV features an enhanced interior space and a spacious, adaptable cabin with a clear, unrestricted view.
The Honda 0 SUV will incorporate advanced attitude estimation and stabilisation control using 3D gyro sensors, a technology derived from Honda’s extensive robotics research, to ensure responsive vehicle dynamics across different terrains.
This SUV is also scheduled for an initial release in the North American market in the first half of 2026, with further launches in global markets.
Each model in the Honda 0 Series will be equipped with the ASIMO OS, Honda's proprietary vehicle OS, which will be central to achieving the series 'Wise' attributes.
The ASIMO OS will control various vehicle systems, including automated driving and in-vehicle entertainment. It will receive continuous updates via OTA to refine features and services based on user preferences.
Honda continues to push the boundaries of automated driving technology to reduce and eventually eliminate traffic accidents. By utilising state-of-the-art AI and cooperative AI technologies, Honda is enhancing the precision and reliability of its driver assistance systems.
With the expansion of Level 3 automated driving capabilities and ongoing technological developments, Honda remains at the forefront of creating vehicles that ensure safety and offer superior user experiences.
Honda is developing a high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) in collaboration with Renesas Electronics Corporation for future software-defined vehicles (SDVs), reinforcing its commitment to technological innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector.
