Honda Unveils the Prelude Concept at Goodwood, Redefining Hybrid Performance in Europe

Honda celebrates a quarter-century hybrid innovation with the European unveiling of the Prelude Concept. This confirms that the production model will make its regional comeback before its first public showing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14.

After its debut at last year's Japan Mobility Show, the Prelude Concept is poised to offer an exhilarating blend of thrilling driving experiences and exceptional efficiency. This launch highlights Honda's enduring dedication to electrification, presented in a stylish and dynamic package.

Forty-five years ago, the original Prelude debuted in Europe, establishing itself as a thrilling showcase of Honda's advanced technology across five generations until 2001. The latest model honours this legacy, combining style and sophistication with a hybrid powertrain.

The name "Prelude" metaphorically represents an introductory musical piece, setting the stage for future models showcasing Honda's commitment to sports performance. This approach aligns with Honda's mission to enhance the driving joy for customers throughout Europe.

Tomoyuki Yamagami, Chief Engineer and Large Project Leader at Honda Motor commented, "The new Prelude not only ushers in a fresh chapter in our hybrid evolution but also reflects 25 years of pioneering hybrid research and development. This model is designed to maintain its sporty essence by merging the benefits of electrified driving with thrilling performance, offering drivers an escape from the mundane."

Furthermore, Yamagami emphasised, "The Prelude also underscores the ongoing relevance of hybrid powertrains within Honda’s strategy for automobile electrification, aligning with our goal to ensure all new vehicle sales are powered by battery electric or hydrogen fuel cells by 2040."
