Unveiling the Limited Edition Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: A Tribute to Craftsmanship and Elegance

Mercedes‑Maybach and Robbe & Berking, renowned for their unique craftsmanship, pristine aesthetics, and timeless elegance, unite to create bespoke products for fans of the extraordinary. Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a specially refined S-Class model to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Robbe & Berking's Flensburg silver manufactory. This design draws inspiration from the iconic SPHINX 12mR yacht, built in 1939 and celebrated as the "night-blue beauty" in sailing history. This yacht marked the beginning of Robbe & Berking's restoration venture, leading to the establishment of Robbe & Berking Classics in 2008.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 anniversary model mirrors the SPHINX's colour palette. It features a dual-tone exterior of nautical blue metallic and MANUFAKTUR Patagonia red bright, divided by a delicate MANUFAKTUR opaline white metallic pinstripe reminiscent of the yacht's waterline.

Daniel Lescow of Mercedes-Maybach remarks, “Just like the SPHINX yacht, our exclusive S-Class anniversary vehicle embodies superior craftsmanship, elegance, and meticulous attention to detail. We congratulate Robbe & Berking on their milestone and anticipate continued success in our partnership.”

Oliver Berking, Managing Director of Robbe & Berking GmbH, comments, “This remarkable anniversary vehicle symbolises the enduring friendship between Maybach and Robbe & Berking, united by our passion for unmatched craftsmanship, the finest materials, and timelessly elegant designs both on land and sea.”

The interior of this one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Maybach S-Class radiates luxury. Maybach MANUFAKTUR Exclusive nappa leather in crystal white and diamond quilting adorns the seats, headliner, door panels, and storage areas. Orion grey stitching contrasts beautifully with the white leather, resembling a sail. The design includes exclusive walnut wood trim with light aluminium accents, echoing a ship's deck, and customised nappa leather cushions in the rear.

Enhanced comfort features include electric comfort doors, illuminated MANUFAKTUR door sill trims, a Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system, the MBUX high-end rear-seat entertainment system, and a cooling compartment equipped with two silver-plated champagne goblets from Robbe & Berking, adding a touch of grandeur since 2002.

The SPHINX, part of the prestigious “12 Metre R class” and a veteran of America's Cup races from 1958 to 1987, represents the pinnacle of classic yachting. Initially built for the North German Regatta Association in 1939 and later serving as a German Navy training ship, the SPHINX has been meticulously restored to its original glory by Oliver Berking and his team, ensuring its legacy endures through Robbe & Berking Classics, a leading shipyard for classic yacht restoration and construction.
