Hyundai Unveils Advanced 'X-ble MEX' Exoskeleton in New Campaign to Aid Soldier Rehabilitation

Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its innovative X-ble Medical Exoskeleton (X-ble MEX) in a new campaign video titled '10M March' to support rehabilitating injured soldiers.

In partnership with the Korean Armed Forces Medical Command, the video highlights the 'X-ble MEX' deployment at the Armed Forces Capital Hospital and shares numerous heartfelt public messages of encouragement to the soldiers. The '10M March' campaign is inspired by the daily rehab rehabilitation routines, depicting the hospital corridor as a challenging, long march.

The campaign video showcases how injured soldiers use the 'X-ble MEX' to navigate the rigours of rehabilitation. This wearable exoskeleton lessens the physical strain on medical staff and aims to make the recovery process safer and more efficient.

Hyundai donated the 'X-ble MEX' to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital last August. It is a sophisticated medical rehabilitation robot created by Hyundai’s Robotics LAB. The robot aids in walking rehabilitation and supports intricate training movements beyond essential walking assistance.

The 'X-ble MEX' features a real-time actuator control system, empowering patients to move independently by providing the necessary support to maintain balance during walking. It facilitates various movements such as sitting, standing, walking, rotating, and climbing stairs, significantly boosting the efficacy of treatments and motivating patients throughout their rehabilitation.

Moreover, the 'X-ble MEX' alleviates medical personnel's workload by aiding in patient movements, balancing, and reducing the risk of injuries, notably decreasing the likelihood of falls.

The video's narration is delivered by Ji-hoon Lee, a national hero and bronze medallist in ice hockey at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics, who underwent rehabilitation following a military service injury. The supportive messages featured in the video are drawn from over a thousand comments on Hyundai’s social media channels.

Embodying the message of 'The Right Move for the Right Future,'’ Hyundai continues to make various social contributions focusing on mobility, safety, and environmental sustainability for future generations.

Last August marked another milestone when Hyundai donated its second-generation 'X-ble MEX' to the rehabilitation treatment department of the Armed Forces Capital Hospital. Hyundai remains committed to advancing mobility technologies to enhance the freedom of movement for those with mobility challenges.
