Caterham is excited to announce its collaboration with Yamaha Motor, a leading Japanese mobility manufacturer, on the all-new electric sports coupe, Project V. Yamaha will equip this prototype with its state-of-the-art e-axle technology.
Following the initial reveal of the design concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and its subsequent showcase at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Caterham is advancing to the next stage in their plan to bring this innovative car into commercial production.
Project V will incorporate a lightweight and compact electric powertrain developed by Yamaha, embodying the core Caterham principles of simplicity, lightness, and exhilarating driving experiences. Yamaha will also contribute its extensive knowledge in vehicle motion control to the project.
TOKYO R&D, a renowned specialist engineering firm with a solid track record in developing prototype and production vehicles for major OEMs, is leading the development of the prototype model, which is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
Operating under the Caterham brand, which is part of VT Holdings in Nagoya, Japan, this collaboration with Yamaha is set to deliver a powertrain that lives up to the high expectations for a brand-new Caterham vehicle and will significantly accelerate Project V's market launch.
